2007 Imapla LT Upgrade Ideas

282 Views 2 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  Robbie Mack
I just purchased a 2007 Chevy Impala LT. 3900 3.9 L V-6. The purpose of this post is to get some ideas, suggestions and thoughts on the possible upgrades. Here are my thoughts (not in any specific order).

1. Cool Air Intake
2. Flow Master Super 44
3. Headlights and Tail lights
4. Grill
5. Wheels and Rims
6. Paint
7. Window Tint
8. In dash unit and speakers

My mission is to get as much rumble and performance out of the current engine in the car. I am setting a $6000 budget for this project. My plan is to use the same size tire when upgrading. Maybe an 18 inch. I guess my biggest question is would it be worth putting a cool air intake and flowmasters on a 3.9 liter V-6? I am not trying to win any races but would like to be able to sound like I can when I roll past you. Now I would expect a performance boost with the upgrades. I want to run it by the community and get some thoughts.

Thanks in advance.

OEM design is already Cold Air Intake (CAI)...pulls in ambient air from behind the driver side headlight. The point is to not draw in hot air from the engine bay. An after-market CAI might look cooler, but I don't think it's going to give you any cooler air or any better performance....

You can expect some performance enhancement from low back pressure mufflers. Don't have experience with the Flow Master Super 44, but if the back pressure is lower than stock OEM, then it will help.....

Your list of other upgrades are not performance related except for perhaps wheels. Tires are definitely performance oriented....not sure what you're running now, but a tire upgrade will be noticeable....

Thanks for the response. I have read before that the CAI would not do much if anything to the performance. Good information. I will scratch that from my list.
