The 4T65E went through major internal changes in 2003. The shift solenoids are the easy to see changes but there are many others compared to the 2002 & earlier transmissions.

I would think the 2004 & 2005 from 3.4L cars would interchange. Probably 2003 as well. Your salvage yard will likely have the Hollander interchange database. That will be a lot more trustworthy than my educated guesses.

Trying to use one of the 2006 & newer units might not work, but again Hollander will tell what's different.

You don't want one from a 3.8 since the final drive gearing is different from the 3.4 cars. Supercharged 3.8 transmissions used yet another final drive ratio. They'll work but you'll have to explain the change in final drive ratio to the ECM & TCM with some tuning software.

I'd go for it. Internally there aren't many, if any, differences.
Having a whole donor will help a bunch.
If you need the 2005 TCM you already have it, same goes for the ECM. For that matter you could swap the entirety of the engine bay harnesses from the donor.
