What size engine is in this car, if it is a V6 the power steering pump is located on the top of the engine beside the alternator. I have had to replace a few rack and pinions in cars like this it should be checked out first before thinking that it is the pump it could be the rack and there is more difficulty in changing the rack, for it will need to be aligned and you will have to exchange the tie rod ends when changing the rack.
