i have a 2001 impala 3.4 and i just found out that the oil is leaking and most of the oil is leaking into the radiator or the water system anyway. Can you tell me is the problem is the head gasket. i have never seen this before. i have seen the water leaking into the oil. by the way there is no oil in the oil pan according to the dip stick and i had just pour two quarts in about a week ago thanks in advance

Yikes. With that much loss I would say a head gasket isn't a bad assumption. From experience I would shoot for lower intake manifold gaskets first.

3.4L intake gaskets

The 3.4L engines are notorious for intake manifold gasket failures , allowing oil into the cooling system and / or coolant loss . Mine's done it .

Likely not the head gaskets but, the LIM Gasket (lower intake manifold)

Curious to hear what ended up being the issue for this one? My son has a 2001 chevy impala 3.8L V6 and just this weekend his water pump went out and he over heated his motor. Now there is coolant in his oil system. Should i prepare us for DIY Head Gaskets or Lower Intake Manifold Gasket change? Any thoughts out there that might be helpful? Thanks!
