ok so i have a 96 ss impala n the check engine light came on. i hooked up a obd2 meter to it n it comes out with the code po400 egr. it has 92,000 miles on it n i can also hear a little tick ever couple seconds in the engine when it idles do i need to replace the egr valve n is it a pretty simple job to do?

Yes you should replace the EGR. and yes it is not that hard to do. Pick up a Haynes book if you do not have one it can give you step by step directions. If you really are going to be doing alot of work yourself on the car pick up the set of Factory Service Manuals (set of two books). Just remove the bolts from the EGR (found at the back of the intake manafold) and switch out. Should take less then 20 mins. I dont have any pics to show you hopfully someone eles will chime in and provide you with pics. Really not that hard to do and once you get in their to change out pretty self guiding.
