I was wondering if anyone knows anything about the very early production 1962 Impala SS. I bought the car from my grandfather and he pointed out the car has standard rear trim because they did not have the ss trim finished for the early models. I was wondering if anyone can confirm this. Also the car has original California one piece bumpers and the numbers matching six cylinder engine, I have the paper work to confirm that is is a factory ss with the six cylinder. Can anyone tell me the rarity of this car? Thanks.

That is true that the early '62 SS cars did not have the swirls on the trim. A 235-6 in a '62 SS is pretty rare, but I don't know how rare. There may be some stats somewhere.

Beautiful car by the way.

The only thing I can see that is non-original is the emblem on the fender.
