I have an 01 3.8 Litre V6 Impala and it just ticked over 135,000 and i just changed the brake pads out on it, and im looking to change the tranny fluid coz sometimes it slips or jults when it changes gear. Since ive had the car ive had to change the thermostat, fuel pressure regulator and the plastic elbow which anti-freeze flows through. I was just wondering which things i should look out for on this car with this amount of miles it and what are the common problems on the 3.8L engines?

Trans slippage could be the pressure solenoid.

When was your last transmission service? What did you have done?

Have the solenoid looked at, if possible.

DO NOT get a transmission flush.

If the fluid needs to be changed, have them replace the fluid and filter. Be very sure they do not flush the transmission.

Doing so can dislodge settled metal bits from nooks and crannies and force them into the moving parts of the transmission.
