Well after years of beating on junkyard motors putting 30K or so on with too much power and losing one shortblock I decided to refresh one for reliability. I fairly routinely race at Great Lakes Dragaway 150miles from home. Don't know what the tow bill would be from there but I know I would rather spend the money on parts for the car than just getting it home.

I upgraded to the latest 200cc package from Advanced Induction while I was at it.

What is not done to it?

Advanced Induction 200CC ported GM heads. www.advancedinduction.com
with a matching cam is where the power comes from. Other than that the rest is there just to support it. Good cold air intake, good headers www.focuztech.com 1 3/4" 4 tube, and exhaust, www.edgeracingconverters.com 3800 stall http://pro-built.net tranny, 4.10 rearend gears.

The shortblock needs new rodbolts to be reliable above 6500rpms. My old setup on a truly stock junkyard shortblock I kept to under 6500 with Advanced Induction's 190cc heads and a smaller cam went 11.9 with 3.73s and a 3400 stall and had small tube midlength headers.

This all upsets a lot of the guys that spend $10,000 on no expense spared stroker builds because they spend the money on marketing rather than good parts and endup slower.

It cost a LOT more than what you put into the engine. The built tranny, good stall, rearend work, exhaust etc all costs money

Good thing I'm experienced with building a strong 4L60E! I've had plenty of experience with my previous "toy". I have insight on building to last... Not just strong. Just hadn't played much with LT1s. Looking forward to picking up my DGGM in a few days.

What does your car tip the scales at Dwayne?

I worked my last 1979 Impala extensively to get the weight down and was still pushing 3600 plus my self. Do you run full interior? Stock 10-bolt?

You're a bad boy with them r/t times.I just started racing after years of sitting in the stands.I have made 6 passes with my junk.Never been behind the tree.The more seat time I get the better I have become.My best r/t yet is a .706 after 6 passes.High five man on those r/t's.

One time in a FREAK occurrence I had a .0023 RT, my reaction times are wildly inconsistent, good ones are luck not skill.

Those r/t's only looks to be that you are trying to cut a good light.Trying hard at times that red will flash.The red just comes with the territory in drag racing..
I have not gotten a red as of yet.That only tells me I have not tried hard enough for a better r/t off the tree.Just my 2 cents...
