So while getting my brakes changed yesterday my mechanic asked me to come look at both of my rear tires. Along the inner edge of the tire you can see a rift basically where the strut plates are rubbing against and you can see in the strut plates it has been rubbing against it. Was wondering what it might be the tires are stock size 235/50/18 so they are the right size even though they do appear larger than what they should be. Just concerned if it’s possibly the struts or the rear alignment on the car?? Any tips help. Cheap tips are even more better lol

I can look and try to get a pic when I get back outside, I can visibly see both of the strut plates touching the inner tires tho when sitting

I would suspect worn bushings. I've noticed designs that leave very small clearances. Add some tire flex to the situation, and you've got interference. I'd start there.
