ecently purchased 08 Malibu that wasn't throwin heat. It was drove home three hours and ran fine. Couple days later after running it some and cleaning it up before getting to fix the heat it overheated. Radiator was leaking. Installed new radiator and thermostat on the car and flushed the heater core and its still overheating and not blowing heat. What to look next?

Sounds like there is air in the heater core.
Couple things you can try.
First off, pressure test it. Advance has a good kit that you can rent and get your money back after you are done using it.
Second, follow the proper bleed procedure for your car. Jack the front up and run the engine. I have had good success running it for a little with the radiator cap off and filling it if it goes down, just make sure it is cool before starting this. Not sure about your t-stat setup, but on the 3800s it is on top of the intake manifold. I fill it with coolant before I put the t-stat in. I've had extremely little air after startup doing this. If your t-stat is sideways its a whole lot harder.
Keep at it! Sometimes these are head scratchers.
