I have an 06 Impala and have replaced the power steering pump twice and I am still having the same problem. After the first pump was installed it worked for a few days and then started squealing again and so my mechanic flushed the line....The same thing happened...it lasted a few days and then continued squealing. So then he said that the pump was bad so I had bought another one and returned that one. Now this new one is installed and I am having the same problems!! It will be easy to turn at first with little squealing but after a few days of driving, the squealing gets worse and then it becomes hard to turn the wheel. Does ANYONE has any suggestions of what it could be? Or even how to fix this problem???? PLEASE HELP!!

Maybe if you move this thread to 8th generation Impalas, people will give some suggestions.

I replaced mine twice also and it stilled squealed and leaked. I gave up on fixing it. This winter was very harsh as it leaked a lot. I put lucas stop leak PS fluid from November till now in April. No squeal at all. Fluid is still there.

It could be anything from not being bled correctly to a seal in the rack might be busted.
I had this problem in the fall last year.
They replaced my entire rack, P.S. pump, and some other stuff.
A month later the pump started it's sh!t again.
I would add fluid to it every week.
I thought it may have been bled wrong. I just dealt with it until I had went through two bottles of fluid and I had enough.
I took it back to get it bled right and they found that the rack had a bad seal which is where it was leaking from.
So they replaced it again.
Fine ever since.

Sometimes new parts are faulty.
Sometimes the wrong parts are replaced...
