If my water wasn't hard as a rock and left water spots every time I washed it, I wouldn't mind detailing my car. Washing it, then having to get the water spots out, *then* starting the detailing process, it's super time consuming. I need to make enough money to get a water softener/filter process for everything coming through the house.... and end my random rant! Haha.
Thanks, man. I originally had plans to change out the headunit for a touch screen, but that's sort of fallen back in my goals for mods. Perhaps one day, definitely not this year though, I have too much other stuff I want to do with the car.

As far as the detailing, it's difficult to keep the water from air drying, but I somehow pull it off. When I wash my car, I actually HAVE to do it in partial direct sunlight (based on the location of my driveway). Therefore, I have to be FAST and thorough during the washing/drying process to make sure the water doesn't air dry or evaporate before I can dry it. A couple of tips I can give you to keep it from air drying if you need some help...
-As you're washing, be sure to wash section by section, but every time you do a section, go back and re-hit the sections in direct sunlight to make sure they don't dry
-After you rinse all the soap and stuff off, remove your hose sprayer and turn your hose nozzle to the lowest water flow possible, and go over the car from top to bottom to let the excess water run off, that way there's less to dry.
-When drying with the towels, I generally keep upwards of 50 small microfiber towels on me so I can dry, toss, and grab another one. Use them liberally, and go as fast as possible. As always, start drying the sections in direct sunlight first, then worry about the shaded areas.

Check out RV water filtration. The canister type filters aren't perfect but they definitely help with hard water and u just add them between the hose and the faucet, the opposite of what the pic shows below, so you aren't lugging that weight at the nozzle. They are pretty cheap, $15 to $30 depending on the brand and you can get them at most Walmarts that have camping gear.

Damp microfiber collects more water than when it's dry so I wet them first and just ring out my rags as I go, usually using two for the car, one in each hand. Whichever one looks the dirtiest gets used to wipe down the door frames and rims. Laundry detergents and heat from the dryer can kill them so just rinse with water and let them air dry when you're finished.

Meguiar's Quik Detailer is awesome stuff for that last touch-up. It works great for any water spots you may have missed and keeping your door frames looking new.

I will never use any kind of towels to dry my car again - I've been using some sort of chamois-type thing to dry for car for the last two years - just wring it out when it gets wet - SO much better than using a towel of any kind. I do use a microfiber towel for the door jambs, etc though. And I use window cleaner and a microfiber towel for the windows. But for the car itself, no towels here! :-)

I'll have to get the exact name of thing I use, but it's freaking awesome - it's not a actual chamois....

I figure I'd update my 'Payla real quick. Over the last month or so she has been running real good. I decided to replace the spark plugs and wires a couple weeks ago with ACDelco Iridium plugs and ACDelco wires. So far, so good.

I have some big plans for her this summer, and it all involves dual exhaust! I have officially scheduled a date to replace my rear bumper with one cut for dual exhaust, and I'm having it done professionally. That is scheduled for early June, and afterwards, I'll be installing new exhaust! I am still undecided on the route I would like to go with it, either Flowmasters or straight up factory mufflers. The reason I'm so "on the fence' about it is because I have a neighbor that pisses me off (as well as everyone else) with his fart-can muffler, and I'm not sure I want to be equated with him by everyone... (even though mine would sound good)

Either way, dual exhaust is coming in some form with a new bumper, and I'm also thinking about doing new brakes all around this summer. Lots of fun ahead!

The Payla received a brand new rear bumper this past Monday, one with dual exhaust cut-outs! Paint looks beautiful, body shop did a helluva job! Despite the new bumper, it looks a bit silly with only the one muffler, but dual exhaust is coming VERY soon!

I feel I should give an update on the Payla Project. As of now, modifications are on pause, including the dual exhaust upgrade, as I've begun to save money for a new project. Now to clarify, the Payla is NOT going anywhere, but for the first time since I bought the car, I won't be doing any BIG mods for the time being. It will continue to serve as my loyal daily driver, and I'll continue to baby it with details and regular maintenance as I have for the last 2.5 years, it just won't be receiving any upgrades for a while.

I'm going to be saving money a lot for a while because I've decided to buy a new project car, (I won't include details right now ) hopefully by next summer. I'm very excited, but in the mean time, the Payla will live on!

Well, it's been a while...

Over the last 2 years, the Payla went through some slight changes...got in a minor incident and had the front bumper and grille replaced with fog light bezels, and changed the headlights back to stock. But due to a number of mechanical issues and qwerks that were just getting to be a bit too much, I said goodbye to the Payla last Saturday.

...and traded her in on a 2014 Impala. Pics are below! The car is a 2LT, has 46k miles, leather, all sorts of safety assists, upgraded stereo, NAV, and the 3.6L LFX! So far I am in love with the car and having an awesome time with it! My plans for mods on the car are small - blacking out the bowties, getting new headlight bulbs, and changing out the incandescent footwell, console, trunk, and license plate lights with LEDs to match the rest of the car.
