i found an article on BBEngineering. they say to use an acrylic bowl and stuff like that. but what i did was found 2 cheap tail light assemblies with harnesses on ebay and bought them. im gonna cut that bowl out and use that to make it more of a uniform look cus ive noticed how when people do that mod the center 2 lights look brighter than the outer. this bugs me.
i know there is a way to make the 2 new lights into turn signals and do the progressive turn signals. (like the newer mustangs and some older cars) i know they sell the 3 light ones but i only of course just wanna use 2. is there a part for that? or do i have to make something?
im also gonna try and keep the reverse lights in the same spot also.
ill keep yall posted. im pretty excited about it haha
A "nice" pop when coming off of the throttle? Thats called a rasp and it's annoying. If you like that kinda noise, go buy a honda and put a fart can on it.
it sounds better in person. iphones suck. and i dont like THAT sound but it sounds better than stock. fuck civics. my exhaust is no where near that annoying. it surprises people and i find it funny. like i said come summer im getting a 2.5 downpipe and 2.5 pipe all the way with a selectable y pipe and a flowmaster. this is temporary.
thanks for the info about the 3 inch pipe. dually noted. but i would like a good rumble. i know what i have right now if raspy but its better than stock and it cost me <$150. im happy. and not as broke as i thought lol
kinda jealous on the quad tail lights. I have two spare light reflectors that I can take from some spare impala tail lights that I have. but I noticed it will take some mods to the trunk though for it to fit since I want to keep the back up lights as well.I have a good idea how it will "work"
it is a pain. i still havent made the trunk lid completely waterproof. i just have to make some sort of cup and eboxy it to the trunk lid. a dremel becomes incredibly handy during this whole project. if u need one, just make sure its a corded one.
oh and heres an update: i just got a roll of rgb leds in! now i just need the metal to stick em to and the rgb music controller. then after an f ton of wire running, itll be done! cant wait to roll down the road with orange under bodies! the cops on stillwater, oklahoma shouldn't care to much! go pokes! well, unless theyre sooner fans lol
I know this is a fairly old thread, but I'm working on my quads and had a few questions. I, like you, cut up some tail lights to use the buckets for the quads. I didn't keep my reverse lights because I'm relocating them. Anyways, when I cut the buckets down to size and stick them in where the dummy lights were, they still stick out too far off the back of the panel for it to fit onto the car. How did you get the buckets tucked in there enough to make them fit?
I had to remove the little plastic pieces and then take a dremel to the metal. Had to cut a square about 2 inches deep and 2 inches wide. I probably did my setup a little different that you're doing yours tho. Regardless a dremel will probably be involved to cut some metal. The it's just a matter if trying to waterproof it all again.
Yeah, I think I might try to hammer and dolly it out rather than cut a hole... We'll see how it goes once it warms up enough for me to spend more than 20 minutes outside
^^ Lol I look forward to seeing this mod done. Be sure to take plenty of pics of the process and what was done. I'd love to do this mod some day as it is fairly cheap to do and looks awesome.
Have to make sure my tranny is OK, then going ahead with this..
Plan on keeping the reverse lights, by making a ring around the centers, and using LEDs in there, i have some good plans..
Might put halos in the taillights as well.. so have to take apart my side tails..
and also putting a light block on the side tails center, so it doesnt light up, kinda like the inner lights, (with the reverse lights) so they will look more like a Lambo.. Then with the halos in all 4, and maybe sequential..
I will also take pics for the process,, just hope my transmission is OK.. Im doing alot to this car this time around..

Funny, I'm doing the exact opposite by tinting the reverse section red so I get 4 full tail lights, not the 'donut' lights that everyone else has for their quads
Ive got the center panel made, just waiting for a warm day to cut the trunk lid for clearance and run the wires. I've also got to finish with the tinting. The panel I'm using is tinted black, so I've got to remove that and add red tint. I already have it so that it lights up all red, but from the outside the reverse section still looks white, so just a layer of red vinyl tint to make it look uniform.
Damn dremel bit was supposed to come Saturday, and didn't make it. Now I won't get it til tomorrow, but today is the last warm day :bang: :bang: :bang: :gaah:
