Replaced the cabin filter today with 34,184 miles on the car. It was pretty dirty, I will not go that long again without changing it. Used the CF184 AC Delco with charcoal and it was less than $13 on Amazon.
I also changed the cabin filter on my 15 Sierra earlier and when I pulled the dirty old filter out a leaf fell into the blower motor. made a sound like an airplane taking off when the fan was turned up to max. I had to get it out with a shop vac but turned to blow not suck because I couldn't get a good vacuum on it. Anyways it blew the leaf out and restored the quiet fan operation.
I saw online people said to slide a piece of paper or thin cardboard under the filter before removing it so nothing would fall into the blower motor. I did that with the Impala (used a piece of the cardboard box the filter came in) and it worked like a charm.
