Old school emblems

Added these emblems to both front doors of my 2014. I think it adds a nice flare and ties the past Impala's to the current gen (10th).

Replaced the cabin filter today with 34,184 miles on the car. It was pretty dirty, I will not go that long again without changing it. Used the CF184 AC Delco with charcoal and it was less than $13 on Amazon.

I also changed the cabin filter on my 15 Sierra earlier and when I pulled the dirty old filter out a leaf fell into the blower motor. made a sound like an airplane taking off when the fan was turned up to max. I had to get it out with a shop vac but turned to blow not suck because I couldn't get a good vacuum on it. Anyways it blew the leaf out and restored the quiet fan operation.

I saw online people said to slide a piece of paper or thin cardboard under the filter before removing it so nothing would fall into the blower motor. I did that with the Impala (used a piece of the cardboard box the filter came in) and it worked like a charm.

Splash Guard

My Splash Guards arrived today for my 2014 Impala LTZ, ordered from Amazon. GM Accessories kit 22872958 for the front and 22872961 for the rear.

The installation was done in the driveway in the full hot sun (Mistake #1 ) and without jacking the car or removing the wheels (Mistake #2 ). I also trusted the instruction sheet to be well written and complete (Mistake #3 ).

Worse part of the whole thing was removing the existing fasteners in the wheel well. The instruction sheet listed tools required as 3/16 (5mm) drill bit/drill, T20 Torx Screwdriver, Clean cloth/rag. It never mentioned removing the wheel which if not done on the rear it makes it impossible to use a T20 Screwdriver (or any screwdriver) which is the correct size required for the supplied attaching fasteners. It also never mentioned the existing fasteners in the wheel well required a T15 Torx bit and 1/4 drive ratchet to remove and reinstall as required to mount the splash guards. It is never as easy as it seems (End rant). However, after sweating profusely and uttering a few choice words for the GM engineers I got it done.

Rear Bow-Tie accented with Blue Metallic vinyl stripes

I was considering blacking out or body color matching the Front and Rear Chevy Bow-Tie emblems but did not like that everyone is doing this to their cars. So, I decided to trim the outer edge of the rear Bow-Tie with the same Blue pin stripes I used on the sides of the car. Will do the front Bow Tie soon.

It is different and subtle which I like. Comments welcome.

Had 4 new 235/50/18 Goodyear Assurance WeatherReady tires installed at Sams Club today.

Got a hell of a deal on them at $656.94 after install and taxes. Plus I also get about $17 back in reward dollars after buying them at Sams as well.

Will buff out the 3 inch by 1 inch spot I had to grind down, clean, prime, touchup paint, and touchup clear coat. It will probably still look like some idiot with no clue did the work, but hopefully it will stop the rust from coming back. I tend to be more into function over looks anyway.
