Personally from an aesthetic standpoint I think it would look terrible. I've seen some on cars occasionally and it's always left a bad taste in my mouth.
Yes cleaning bugs is a pain, but how long do the bugs stay around? I think this is the peak time the bugs are out so I would say wait it out for a couple weeks and see what happens.
I don't think I've ever seen a car bra on the front of a 7th gen so I can't speak to our models specifically.

I Guess I should post pics for reference

Your right they don't really hang around long. To be honest I could take it or leave it aesthetically. The biggest problem is (If I remember correctly) dust and carp can get trapped underneath and cause problems that way. The bug remover stuff I mentioned earlier in this thread didn't quite perform as expected and was still a lot of work. (It did a surprisingly good job performing like RainX though, I used my wipers twice on the way to work the day I applied it!) I wanna give that sprayway glass cleaner @RYD SLO recommended a shot though!

IMO, car bras are so "80's". :-) I also remember that they caused a lot of stains on light-colored cars... They do have what they call a "clear bra" now - it's a clear 3M film that is applied to the front end of a car to protect it from chips, etc... I seem to remember that it made it easier to clean off bug splats too.... :-)

I'm really glad to have you bring that up actually! I've been throwing around the idea of doing a 3M coating. One of my co-workers had that done to his Harley and that guy does his research, trust me. I will have to look into it further. I was at a car show a while back however and there was an old Camaro that looked like it had 3M done. Now I knew that because the stuff was peeling off on the panel edges. I'm not sure how old the coating was or how well it was done and I'd be curious about how that issue could be resolved or what the process is to have it re-done. Either way it seems better than not having it.

Been a little bit since I posted here, Nothing much is new. Bought a bug sponge for the windshield and headlights and I'm keeping up on weekly washes.

Saw a new ChrisFix video about engine cleaning and it looks like a lot of fun! Fortunately / Unfortunately Aly's engines actually surprisingly clean... Which is Good / Bad. lol

Still gonna clean 'er though, I can't wait!

With so many things on the go I can't believe I'm keeping up with car stuff. Just nothing really worth mentioning on this thread until I can get a larger grouping of things to talk about.

Ooh, almost forgot, I got some fake leather seat covers! from a buddy and I'm no longer interested in the car bra.

Car cover however, that's a different story...

The aforementioned car cover was recently at the forefront of my mind yesterday.

As you can probably guess and as many of you can empathize, I treasure my dear car dearly.

Dear car Dearly, lol. Feels kinda cool to say. I named 'er for goodness sake!

Long story short there was a weather warning yesterday of sorts. The Weather Network was throwing out a warning that, amongst other things. There may be golf ball to (and this is what someone said but I don't really remember reading): BASEBALL sized hail! BASEBALL sized! Maybe I haven't lived long enough to experience hail this size yet but like sheesh!

I had memories of the hail beaten Saturn I mentioned somewhere on some website a while ago. Probably Facebook, Dents on every surface that wasn't vertical, Cracked plastic pieces, broken tail light glass. headlights were probably messed up too but I was too busy looking at the damage on the hood to remember that particular detail. Like Sheesh that thing got riddled!

I embraced what might happen. I was at work, there was nothing above it to stop the (In my mind) endless maelstrom. of destruction the hale would bring (Unnecessary drama, lol) The glass sunroof was also a concern of course but I thought (Probably to give myself some piece of mind) it would be okay.

I wished I had bought the thickest car cover Canadian Tire had to offer, Just for the chance of even so much as reducing damage as much as possible! Fortunately, there was only rain and lightning. The wind picked up pretty bad as well but after a close inspection all was well.

This is the second time we've had a hale warning, the added thought of the car incurring damage was enough!

Gonna start shopping around! I seem to remember that triple thick covers are a thing... Sounds good to me!

His video was "recommended" for me. I'm yet to watch it but I need to. Engine bay is getting pretty dirty

All I can say is....keep up with it. The PO of my car had never once cleaned the engine bay. When I got it, I took one look and said "fuck that" and didn't touch it for almost 5 years. When I finally did get around to cleaning it, that gunk was so fucking caked on, I was literally scrubbing the paint off before the toughest of the dirt/grease would come out. Ended up just repainting the under side of the hood, and have roughly 20 hours into scrubbing and cleaning the rest of the engine bay, and painting a few parts. It now looks presentable, but not really "clean" (at least not to me)

Great to hear from you as well! It feels good to be back on the forum.

Just made some (Non-Serious!) changes in my life, just a lot of em. Took a a bit to get used to and to get things together. But, all good now. Can't wait to get back to reading threads here!

literally the only thing that I had to do with the car is get a tire patched up. In addition to the previous stuff I mentioned.

Hey! Just maybe talking myself through a self imposed block right now!

Long story short, I wanna clean my TR60's but I'm unreasonably nervous that I'll scratch or mar the paint on 'em or something...

Now's the perfect time though as I'll have my stock rims wrapped in my snow's till about April-May. Easier to clean and such, you know... And realistically leaving the dirt on them will absolutely do more damage than a gentle clean.

With that said, anyone got any experience cleaning painted rims? I've watched videos but they're always new rims and I'm not sure how their methods would hold up... I like Hurt from Hoonagan but his tire cleaning method is literally a water bottle and an old rag, haha. What a guy. Tips or tricks? To boil it down, I just feel like most methods are a little rough...
