help

Hey i Am getting mixed messages.with acold air intake And a reprogramed pcm is a safe to drop my pully size to 3.4 on my 04 impala ss

Ejbiers 01-25-2013 07:01 PM

why did you start another thread on the same topic?

Ejbiers 01-25-2013 07:02 PM

your gonna get a huge amount of kr with that small of a pulley you probaly will lose power.

What is your pcm programmed too 91 or 93 octane fuel?

Get a
ubend delete
colder plugs
colder thermostat
then consider a smaller pulley

i know that a spacer will not increase your power as far as a whistle i couldn't tell you. Im not into random whistles in my car.

Also don't be surprised if the weak transmission blows with the pulley drop. so be ready to drop some cash on a built trans

jonkamholtz 01-25-2013 07:17 PM

I was told that the pcm would take care of the air fuel mix and it would also increase preasure to the trans I also bought a shift kit

Ejbiers 01-25-2013 07:20 PM

what is your pcm tuned to 91 or 93 octane

jonkamholtz 01-25-2013 07:20 PM

I ordered this from 3800 performance I also was able to talk to a tech there

Ejbiers 01-25-2013 07:23 PM

Do you want help or not dude.

If you are so sure of this tech then why are you even asking us.

Like i said if you wanna run a smaller pulley SAFELY
colder plugs
colder tstat
ubend delete
and at least a 91 octane tune

sure you can put that pulley on there and run it but with all the KR your gonna get you will lose power and kill your motor
also save up some money for a trans. These transmissions are very weak and upping the power will only decrease its life.

jonkamholtz 01-25-2013 07:24 PM

I am under the impression that different techs are veiwing in different areas its like I said in the other thread I came to this site six months ago and was told by many that I could go down to 3.4 safely with a stock motor

3.4 you really need to do some supporting mods like:
exhaust, Id go power logs/headers (p-logs are cheaper, but by no means better)
180*t stat
1 range colder plugs
u bend delete
TUNE

There is the thread where NOONE TOLD YOU YOU CAN DROP A PULLEY ON A STOCK MOTOR!

jonkamholtz 01-25-2013 07:30 PM

What is unbend delete Android tstat I do have colder plugs Android a IAT wire extention so I can run it over to the fender away from the exaust for a colder reading also it has the hd trans in it you don't think it will hold up

jonkamholtz 01-25-2013 07:35 PM

Thanks I also did get a colder tstate and I payed extra to have the cat code deleted if that's what you mean Android its gonna take me anouther month but on he same site I found a complete exsuast headers and back

Ejbiers 01-25-2013 07:45 PM

ubend

The hd trans has the same internal parts as the non hd trans just a hd differential and 2.93 gearing

jonkamholtz 01-25-2013 07:56 PM

Thanks again I apreciate the help

Ejbiers 01-25-2013 08:01 PM

No problem man make sure you have at least a 91 octane tune also
Tuning the air to fuel ratio or not you need to run high octane fuel with a smaller pulley

jonkamholtz 01-25-2013 08:03 PM

I always run 93but it was tuned for91 or better
