Resetting ECM 2012 Impala
Just got a used 2012 Impala from a dealership. Doesn't accelerate as smoothly or quietly as my 2002 Buick LeSabre. Want to re-set the ECM so it can learn my driving style.
Unhooked the battery cables today and connected them together while cleaning the corrosion off the terminals and clamps. They were unhooked for over 20min. When I connected them back up the only thing that was reset was the clock and fuel range gauge.
I expected the radio, trip odometer and setable settings to be changed but weren't. Should they have been? I do notice the trans shifts differently and the acceleration is also different.
Could have just pulled the ECM fuse for 3min
There is probably a separate TCM fuse too.. Disconnecting the battery cables and tapeing them together is what most people do to clear everything... you can also turn the key to ACC mode with the battery cables taped together to drain all power from the system quickly (instead of waiting for a while). You're key will get stuck in the ignition until you reconnect the battery though.
Honestly, I usually just leave the cables taped together overnight...

Which one and what's the procedure for doing it?
Should I have lost more than the clock & fuel range?
