VladThe So I have a little more time for if/when a bucket of cash lands on me, I can trade in my used Fleet 2016 Limited Impala for a solid loaded new top of the line 9th generation Impala? Awesome. GM is keeping my dreams alive for another year. Although I must admit, if said bucket of cash were large enough, I would totally go for an Audi A8 instead. Heck, maybe I would just get them both ... random imaginary falling bucket money is not in short supply after all.

Pat Currie Stay of execution was granted to Impala until production ceases Jan 2020. Caddy begged GM for more time on the C6 to transfer tech to smaller sedans & CUVs, since it was recently redesigned & the flagship. GM granted it 10 months more March to Jan & threw in Impala since same components, size.

I wanted a LaCrosse but missed the cutoff and wasn't a fan of stop start. When I heard of Impala extension I jumped at the chance for a loaded V6 in Pepperdust.



Retirement is coming soon so I thought it would be an amazing cross country trip cruiser. So after 5 yrs after production ends I'll have a low milage Impala as a cream puff.

striker66 It was originally believed that the Impala was facing down outright discontinuation as part of the closure of GM’s Detroit-Hamtramck plant as well as the automaker’s ongoing global restructuring efforts. The sedan was believed to be headed to the chopping block alongside the Chevrolet Volt, Chevrolet Cruze, Buick LaCrosse, Cadillac CT6 and Cadillac XTS.

However, it now appears as though the Impala, plus the CT6, will actually live on, at least for the time being. That said, the Detroit-Hamtramck plant is at the center of contract negotiations between the UAW and GM, which place the fate of the Impala and CT6 at the center of the maelstrom as well.

Random GM-related stuff after reading the thread

2020 Impalas seem to be limited to four exterior colors and one interior (black), according to the Build&Price tool on Chevy's web site - a sure sign they won't re-extend to the 2021 model year.

A 2014-2020 Impala is a few inches longer than a 2012-2019 Tesla Model S, but not as wide.

I've seen over 500 miles out of a tank of gas in my Impala (512.1 at a reported 29.3 MPG), more than twice what I managed to get out of a full Tesla charge (240.3 miles, original range was rated at 253 miles when new in 2015). This was on a four-year-old battery pack, and the last ten miles of that were big-time white-knucklers. Right about even with the Bolt's rated range of 238.

Latest-gen Caprice was only meant for fleet sales, but they're available in the used market now. If it's already tough to get parts, I wonder how hard it is to get parts for the 2004-2006 GTO these days. I had a 2004 and then a 2006 in the past, and they were fun with the 6-speed manual. Bled my wallet dry at every fill-up though. Never drove them in winter, and didn't keep them long enough to assess long-term reliability.

He didn't say they were small in general. He said they were SMALL ENOUGH for city parking. And yes, Tahoe and Traverse are only 3" longer, but they are still much more cumbersome vehicles compared to an Impala for city driving.

jepal357 As someone who works at a GMC, chevy and Buick dealership I can confirm that GM is wrong. We just took in another shipment of Impalas last week. People love sedans, they get good mpg and are small enough for city parking since cities just keep getting more and more packed.

I had a 2015 SS for a couple year was a great car but a little loud for family hauling and I deprived myself of it whenever there was salt on the road. The 2014 Tesla has a lot more available torque under normal driving.

Friend has his and hers latest generation Caprices, those are lower production than the sports sedan and seem like a giant pain to own, model specific parts are very hard to find.

Production continues until Jan

The end of Impala I figure for a few years, 6 or 8. The 2020 ones won't be different, maybe a different color or two & last 500 as Collector Editions. ( I went through that with Rear wheel V8 LeSabre in 1985.

Here was my 1985 Buick LeSabre Collector Edition in 1995

1954 Chevy What a beauty. They have been in production for more than 6 years, and still look fresh today. I wonder what the next generation was going to be like before they canceled it last year.

Yeap, I've ferried a few things home from Lowe's with the seats down and trunk bungee corded shut.

Five years ago I towed a well loaded 5x8 uhaul from Fairbanks Alaska to Seattle in 4 days with my 7th gen - almost on the bumpstops. The 3800 had plenty of torques for the job, climbed the steep stuff on the ALCAN in 2nd no probs, just had to keep an eye on the temp gauge once the torque converter unlocked and started generating heat, did that trip during May so the weather was fairly cool. Also kept it in 3rd, as 4th is too over-driven for that amount of weight.

Got some strange looks from people (guess they've never seen a car tow something before?), and questions at gas stations as to "whats that like towing a trailer?" no problem, just gotta keep eyes on the road, watch the speed, stopping distances and temp gauge, and pull over to let faster traffic pass. E.g. drive to the conditions.

At the end of the trip I had averaged 20 mpg, better than a lot of empty pickup trucks.

SAAN IS a 2019 Lacrosse 3.6L/9spd auto worth the premium over a 2019 Impala 3.6L/6spd auto?

Anyone driven both and can compare?

Stockcar10 bring the impala ss back with a 6.2 supercharged in rwd and there sales will rocket. they never should of made these cars front wheel drive. would of gotten alot more police contracts/sales
