WickedGoat Decided to dive into the world of LED bulbs. Struck out on my first choice in low beams and have ordered from a different vendor for the 2nd set. These look very promising so check out my LED thread for that. Just been keeping on oil changes and another trans fluid drain and fill. That makes 3 trans services in 96,000 miles so far.
Up next is the big maintenance job... spark plugs, intake cleaning, coolant flush and hopefully a catch can install.

WickedGoat Nothing new to write about. No new mods or changes, just oil changes. Got over 85,000 miles on it and the car runs great.

WickedGoat And it is done... Got home from work late last night and got it ripped apart and got the new hubs in. Went to O'Reilly Auto Parts and had them turn the rotors because there was some pulsation while braking. Since the police brake upgrade isn't possible right now, I had the rotors cut. Brought the rotors home and put it all back together. I cleaned and lubed the hardware clips and slide pins while it was apart. Set the air pressure and got it over to the alignment shop. Drives straight as an arrow with no vibration or noise whatsoever. Life is good. I plan to do the police brakes next spring and I may be looking at struts by then as well. Definitely more to come upgrade-wise as the budget allows. I need to replace the rear swaybar bushings soon... Those piece of crap Addco bushings are noisy again.

I am doing a write up with pics for the hub bearings and will post it soon.

WickedGoat Uniroyal Tiger Paw GTZ all season performance tires in the stock size, 235/50-18. Got a great deal online for them and then got a $40 debit card rebate on top of that. Ended up being $302 for 4 brand new tires shipped to my door. Dealer mounted and balanced them for $56, and that includes disposal of the old ones.

Got a pair of Mevotech front hubs coming from Rock Auto for $67 shipped. The dealer gave me an estimate of $612 which I politely declined... I am pretty sure he knew I wasn't going for it.

04Imp38 What brand tires did you put on?

WickedGoat Tires are done, the hum is gone, but the front hubs have a slight amount of play. Just ordered a pair from Rock Auto... Hopefully they arrive on Friday and I can install on Saturday... alignment to then follow. Thank God the hum is gone. Those Cooper CS5 tires were really noisy.

WickedGoat I changed the oil and installed the cam bolts today. While I had the wheels off it I stripped the stick on balancing weights off and cleaned the back sides of the wheels really good. Goes in Monday for new tires and the alignment. If the hum is still there after new tires then I will order a pair of hubs for the rear and have at it.

I put some leather cleaner and conditioner on the seats today and will do some more interior cleaning tomorrow... haven't had much of a chance to do this stuff lately. Almost 73,000 miles on it and aside from door dings and rock chips, it still looks and runs good. Still running E85 and now that I think of it, I think my oil change counter said I was at 22% while with regular gas it usually goes down to around 5%. The oil smelled different too, not so much the dirty used oil smell.

WickedGoat So I decided to keep my stock wheels for the time and being. I got a fantastic deal on some Uniroyal Tiger Paw tires in the stock size. They are sitting in my garage until my scheduled vacation day so I can have them mounted and balanced as the dealership. I'll have them align it and do an oil change while there. I need to order cam bolts ao i can install them prior to this. I have irregular wear on my inside rears and they are noisy. I have checked the hubs and they seem to be good... no play and no rough feeling while spinning the wheel. Tried listening for change while whipping the car back and forth and the hum stays constant. Gonna check the struts again but I think this is a tire issue.

No mods planned at the moment... Still running E85 even though they jacked the price up.

Did an oil change and switched over to E85 to see if it will help or hinder me... Thread started in 8th gen forum.

Lastly, replaced my front bumper on Saturday because someone decided to back into it a few weeks ago. I ordered one already painted and ready to install. Install was really simple, aside from the foglamp mount rings... they were a b*tch to remove. Paint match was spot on.

Time for tires and possibly wheels. If I do get wheels, there will be a set of near mint LTZ 18s for sale shortly.

I can't speak for WickedGoat but I got mine off of eBay, seller mbiauto. Just search for "2006 Impala bumper cover". I was actually very impressed by how well the paint matched. I can't speak for the quality of the paint since it's only been on a year or so, but it's held up really well. The bumper fits like OEM too. (That's actually it in my profile picture)
Thx. Been debating a while on switching mine to a “fog” bumper cover, but wasn’t sure of the quality of those. Appreciate the feedback on mbiauto. I also noticed a small crack developing in mine right above license plate. It’s not very noticible, but if it gets worse it will definitely make me want to replace.
