Agreed chevy still to this day has major quality control and electrical problems.

They majorly screwed up with the 8th gen impala's. We see this blend door problem all the time on here and the problem always comes back. Not to mention the tpms/keyless receiver or throttle body (reduced power/trac control) problem.

I will never own another impala newer than 05

Honestly, the actuator issues with the 8th gens are actually pretty minor issues. The issue is well known and can be fixed by yourself for relatively little cost. Really not that big of a deal.

ALL cars have their own set of issues. I'd rather have to deal with something simple like HVAC actuators than some major engine issues. In fact, I seem to remember that you constantly mention major engine-related gasket issues with the 7th gens, so in comparison, I'll gladly take the 8th gen HVAC actuator issues any day!

My point is that no matter what car you own, there are going to be "known" issues with it. The nice part about the 8th gen issues is that parts are very common and relatively cheap. The procedures to fix the issues are also well known.

Some of the most expensive cars available are also some of the least reliable cars - so even high cost is not a guarantee of a problem-free car.

On the other hand, the reliability issues with the 4-speed transmission in the 2006-2011 Impala *is* a valid concern! :-)

The 7th gen gasket issue isn't really major.

I'd much rather replace gaskets than have unknown electrical problems.

The hvac is def not the only electrical problems with the 8th gen.

To each his own though. I was just stating my opinion as I know I am not alone and there are plenty of frustrated 8th gen owners.

Old thread but seemed to be the best one for my current issue. I have an 08 LT Impala and replaced the motor for the Vent blend door last summer. When that one went bad it was a slow thumping noise as it tried to close and the baffle skipped.

Now I'm getting a different noise, it's a little quieter and much more rapid noise, more of a clicking than a thumping. It seems to happen most while driving and turning the AC to off.

It is a dual climate zone car. Most of what I've seen online has been for the blend door. Where are the driver/passenger temp servos located? and are they the same motor that the vent blend door used?

Thanks for any help.

I had this issue before and just paid the $400-500 years ago, but now I am unsure if I will pay this again. I would love to do it myself but unsure how and I can't continue to shell out cash for these issues.

There are some great how-to videos and write-ups on this forum on exactly how to replace these actuators. It's a little bit of a PIA due to cramped working space, but there really isn't anything "hard" about it. Just requires a little research and some patience. I truly believe that just about anyone can replace these things. Of course, there are also some great members on this forum that would be willing to help if you have any questions along the way.

Took care of mine about 6 months ago now. Didn't take long. The hardest part was feeling where to put the acres back in.
