Hey all, purchasing a 2012 impala
Hey everyone. Gonna be purchasing a 2012 ls Impala with 129k miles on it. Everything checks out on it but the radio doesnt turn on or seem to have power, Any chance the radio doesnt have power? Also the driver seat is power and goes about just about half way and gets stuck , it goes back just fine. Any have any clues ? on the shop looking into the power seat and might just replace the factor radio with one from best buy or something

I had a 2012 LTZ. The bose speakers in mine were nice but the indash head unit left alot to be desired. Mine actually had a CD stuck in it that would not eject (and of course not my taste in music either). Aftermarket is not a bad option but be prepared to have to purchase add ons like the dash adapter kit, and harness adapters to retain functionality of the vehicle systems (ie. steerwheel volume control, security, etc.), antenna adapter.
As for the seat it sounds like a possible stripped gear or some sort of obstruction. Hard to say without a thorough inspection. Good luck! |
Check the fuses for the radio, if good, check connections. Possible the original owner had an aftermarket and put the factory unit back in and did not get it connected back right.
On the seat, might not hurt to take a look under it and make sure there is not anything in the track that is hanging it up. If the motor was bad it would not move at all. |
Welcome!

I dont know much about these cars. I am a little nervous getting one at 129k miles on it. But I'll clean it up and take better care of then my 1992 toyota I'm upgrading from. How are these motors ? Just curious. |

I've found pens, pencils, drill-bits, barbie legs, rocks, ... stopping forward or backward movement in seat tracks.
If it moves partway back and stops and then it moves forward again like it just came to the end of its' travel that's what I'd look for. Take a piece of bent wire or screwdriver and a flashlight and fish the obstruction out of the track. A stripped rack would get to the toothless section and come to a noisy chattering stop. It wouldn't go forward again without occupant encouragement. |
Well the shop said they could only get to move an inch more. Theyre looking for a part in a junk yard and trying a new one. Rail mudt be bent good
