So happy to see the car running like a champ in the new 4bbl configuration, and so disapointed when I saw that water was mixing with oil haha !
Let's do that again with more RTV....

I tried again yesterday, and this time it seems to be water tight. I also finished to plug the vacuum lines (not shown in the picture)

Less funky colors :d
For the short drive I made, I found the car much more smooth. I will adjust the float & other parameters soon.

Hi folks : )
It's been a while... My caprice is hybernating for the winter... Ok, not exactly hybernating but I don't work on it anymore. I'm waiting the return of nice days to begin the body work. I'm using it sometimes to avoid any problem related to a prolongated sitting.

During this interlude, I began the work on my DB7 :

Now it's less flamboyant :

The episode 2 is available if you want further details : )

Very interesting.
I will be waiting for episodes 3 through 50 !

Some things are better left unsaid, which I generally realize right after I have said them.

Thanks for your comment : )
I'm not sure to be able to put 50 episodes together but I'll try my best :d

Btw, I'm one step forward now, since the engine is now on its stand :

Not bad surprise for the moment, only good ones, like the flywheel in a very good shape (some minor surface rust noticeable but that's all) and it is a single mass flywheel, which I prefer : )

How far are you going to go into the motor?

I have to disassemble the crankshaft and some of the rods. The engine had been turned by force by a garage after years of sitting without any oil inside. So it was seized. The rod bearings turned inside the rods which of course killed them and damaged some rods and the crankshaft.

Did the engine run like this or did the garage manually turn it over ?

I'm afraid they started the engine and it ran for few seconds.

That's too bad. I guess all that stuff then ran through the entire engine.
Complete tear down ??

Fortunately the oil pick up has a quite restrictive filter and the metal flakes were quite big in this case due to the direct and rough contact between the parts.
I have the hope than the circuit remained quite clean.
About the tear down I will try to limit the operation to the minimum considering the price of every little (and big) seals. Like each head gasket costing more than 400$
