Hi all
I was doing some research on the newer power trains and I found quite a bit here so figured I'd join. I just bought a 2013 it has 130,000 miles but was taken care of pretty well, interior has a few issues but nothing hugh ** small tear in the steering wheel cover and a small crack in the right fake wood dash plate** the body is in really good shape ** just waxed it**.
I have had 3 impalas over the years 2000, 2005, and this one. Both older ones were 3.8 and man what a tough engine they are, the 05 lasted 320,000 miles and it finally went, the 2000 I just sent to pasture with around 280,000, the motor still runs ok but the car is literally falling apart around the power train. I miss the 3.8 in some ways it was a really smooth running motor with a nice flat curve.
Going from those gen cars to this one has been a learning curve for sure, I love this 3.6 it really does like to be run hard and for a grocery getter these cars move pretty damn good. I like the transmission but it is strange or I guess different from the old 4 speeds and from what I have read they are solid for the most part.
Look forward to contributing to this thread
Oh and I picked the car up for 5000.
