Smile New Impala Owner. Pretty Excited About It.

Greetings from Wisconsin!

My name is Tyler, and I've finally achieved my dream of owning the Impala nameplate, namely the 9th gen. I recall seeing one as a kid around 10 years ago and simply saying to myself that she'd be mine some day.

I recently purchased a basic 2010 LS model (with 93,000 miles) with the intention of giving it a whole hell of a lot of personality. She needs just a touch of body work and then I'll start going for all the modifications I'm planning on making.

My first mod is probably going to be the headlight assemblies, since (and I've noticed this a lot on 9th gen models) the top half of each headlight is pretty scratchy and blegh. I'm torn between choosing black assemblies or ones more similar to stock, but I digress.

I had an excuse to take out the DSLR, so here's some glam shots:

Welcome to the Impala forum Tyler!! Ride looks beautiful and clean!!
A word about Gens on this forum. Itís a little different than Wikipedia but here the 2000-2005 is 7th gen, 2006-2013 is 8th gen and 2014-now is 9th gen. It changes with the body styles.
What other mods do you have planned besides headlights?
Several members here have some righteous 8th Gens, I hope they will chime in

I'm looking at putting a spoiler on her, since these always look great with spoilers. Most likely something OEM or similar to it. I don't want to put a wing on or anything. I just don't think that would work with this car.

I really think I'm going to do the interior up with some Katzkin leather, because wow. I'm torn between white leather or Black. Leaning more towards white, though. Those are the aesthetic mods I have planned. Nothing yet planned performance-wise. I want her looking great first.

White leather...hmmm...that's something you don't see everyday. It could be a good look. are you thinking a "white out" interior or two tone?

As for performance, for mine, I'm starting small. I've replaced the filters for K&N filters and I'm going to just go from there.

I'm thinking maybe two-tone of possible, That way there's a little more "personality", if you catch my drift.

To be honest, I want it to be luxury as all hell on the inside, and powerful under the hood. Going for the luxury bit first.

This is a car I plan on having for a long, long, LONG time (and I mean engine swap long), and if it's going to be my daily for that long, I want it to be uniquely mine, of course.

Don't think about it. Do it. I know it sounds cheesy but it's good advice.

welcome! btw, you stole my car (i have a 2010 imperial blue LS as well)! since someone has already swapped out the lower grille i'd replace the upper so they match. in a 2010 they should be the horizontal slats. i tried some new headlights from Ebay and had lots of water issues, per lots of suggestions from this forum i went with the Spyder Auto ccfl blacked out units (Spyder Auto | 2010 Chevrolet Impala) and will soon be adding the blacked out LED tail lights to match. there are several brands available for these cars but the material used for the lense covers and moisture issues cause most of them to be poor choices. for an aftermarket radio i'd take a long hard look at the Rosen units mentioned on these forums, there are a lot of happy customers who use them. if i had to do it again, i would go that route (i went with a single din Kenwood Excelon back in 2011).

be nice to the transmission (regular trans filter/fluid changes will be strongly recommended) it will be a weak point when talking performance mods. i just had mine rebuilt 3 weeks ago (164k miles).

Welcome to the forum

Some things are better left unsaid, which I generally realize right after I have said them.
