I think just about EVEYRONE here has had the popping vent issue and had to replace the actuators more than once. I will agree with him that GM didnt put refinement effort into these Impala's and considering its the also the same exact car that came out in 2006 with an updated powertrain, the 2012 versions should be solid.
My 2006 3lt with the 3.9L has the transmission clutch piston replaced twice, coolant pipe for ticking sound, all four tire pressure monitors replaced, front wheel bearings go bad, and the actuators replaced a few times and all this from 10K-40K in 3 yrs. Ill give that a pass as a 1st year model.
Fast Forward to 2012 LTZ with a new powertrain.
My car currently has 133K on it and the actuators have been replaced 2twice already and making more noises, meaning im going to have to replace a motor once again. I have a broken power seat motor on each of the Front seats, the annoying exhaust rattle from the factory that GM just said is normal and to live with it, Fuel Pump failure at 108K, Fuel needle wouldnt go below quarter causing me to run out of gas, but after 2 bottle of fuel system tear=tments it went back to working.
Ill just have to be real with myself that these Impalas are just throw away cars, and maybe I can get another for super cheap on the used car, but would have getthe newer Impalas or the Buick Lacrosse with the 3.6L/9spd auto.
