Now that I have been able to actually drive this thing and play around with it. I must say. What an incredible vehicle. I really really REALLY like this car. A few small things I liked better on our 13 Accord Touring. I would say mainly the LED headlights, LED taillights, exhaust tips and the backup camera. Getting back to the Impala. I also like you don't see a many on the road. People just gawk at this thing and stare at it trying to figure out what it is. Already have had many compliments. Definitely an eye catcher. I got compliments about the Honda. But, nothing like the Impala already and have only owned it for a few days.

I also think coming up from behind. Car guys think its a Camero. It fools you since it resembles the front end of one.

Be careful who installs this for you, they did mine at the dealer, and hacked it up. Put it too far back, now it lifts on the front and has a space on the back. We were able to move it a little bit to make it better, but still not in correct place.

Well here I am again. New problem and it was pretty major. Potentially could have got stuck and ruined our whole trip. Everything was paid for and planned 2 months in advance. Parking brake would lock. It would either not disengage or only partially. This happened 5 times. Even with the car sitting and not using it. I guess it still puts on the brake if you for get. The first time was really bad. I worked with it for about 5 minutes hoping I could get it going. It was not budging. I did not want to give it a whole bunch of throttle fearing something might go boom in the back. Once I got it out and going. The other few times it happened again. 2 other times being you could feel the car being dragged and held back. I did not go far or any thing as I was in a parking lot each time. I stopped and worked with the button. Settings it on/off until it fully unlocked. I just got back from the trip. Will have more to say later. But, man oh man. Very stressful not knowing if we was going to get stuck and everything ruined. Its in service as we speak right now.

Took it straight in from the trip once we got back in town. I am back in another rental for the time being. First thing that came to mind was that parking brake recall. Something tells me they never done the software update and sold us a brand new 15 like that. Build date is 4/15

tbh i don't really know but.. seems like your car has alot of issues
if i were you i'd throw it back at the dealer and ask for a new one
you've gone through too many issues to make this thing reliable...

At this point and in a perfect world. I would love to give it back for another new one of the same make and model. Its not that simple though and I would have to go through the lemon law. I am not remotely even close being able to exercise that option. Its a rough start. But, I hope after this. Nothing else goes wrong with it for a long time. Cant remember where I read it. Could have been a member on here. Apparently their parking brake engaged out of no where by itself while driving on the freeway. Now that would be even more scary! We love and adore this car when its working though.... It never really crossed my mind. Maybe buying a car with an electronic parking brake system was not a good idea? Are they pretty standard now on higher end cars or something? I don't know how reliable they are.

This Impala was a spur of the moment and on the spot. We just really liked it. Inside and out. Like I said earlier. We was going to buy the 2016 Nissan Maxima Platinum. But, they had a temporary stop sale for what ever reason at the time and they showed us this Impala instead. I never even got to test the Maxima. But, others have said they prefer the Impala over it that had test drove the Maxima.

There was a recall about the parking brake applying and not releasing, but the computer would think it did. Not just Impala either, pretty much every GM car built on the platform. Sounds like your dealer sold the car without applying the fix. Which is a big no no.

You should go to the GM recall site and punch on your VIN and see if it says you are still affected.

This (electronic parking brake) is yet another one of those "features" that nobody really wants/needs. Do we really need electronic parking brakes? It was never hard to use them to begin with! :-) Sometimes I wonder why can manufacturers "fix" things that were never broken to begin with. Yet, they spend no time actually testing and designing the infotainment system, which is used almost 100% of the time that the car is in use... I just don't get it.

The electronic parking brake recall was for 2014 only. I'm surprised if you are having that issue on a 2015. As far as it being a useless unwanted feature, well they are becoming the standard and you see them mostly on top models and luxury cars. GM isn't the only manufacturer that has had issues with it.

I agree, JT. I don't use the parking brake much, except at my sister's house, where they have a steep downward sloping driveway. I have trouble remembering which way to operate the switch when setting & releasing it. I guess it needs to be labeled for idiots. Instead it just has a P label on it.

Incorrect. My 2015 had the fix done at the factory, it shows up in the work history. The recall site also showed my car as being affected for the 1st month I had it, and then it dropped off. Which caused me to ask the dealer about it, which is how I found out it was done at the factory.

"General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Cadillac XTS vehicles manufactured February 14, 2012, to August 22, 2014, and 2014-2015 Chevrolet Impala vehicles manufactured November 5, 2012, to September 2, 2014. In the affected vehicles, the electronic parking brake piston actuation arm may not fully retract causing the brake pads to stay partially engaged."

So your 2015 Impala must have been sitting on the lot along time if you just got it and it falls within the recall period. I purchased mine in February 2015 . The recall affects 2013-15 XTS models manufactured between February 14, 2012, and August 22, 2014, as well as 2014-15 Impalas manufactured between January 15, 2013, and August 22, 2014. Not sure where Sept 2014 date came from on yours. My 2015 isn't a model affected by this. Only recall I had was the door handle and that fix was applied to my car two months before I bought it at the dealership. If the fix was done at the factory then why is yours having the issue after you purchased it?

I just saw another site with the September 2, 2014 date. Very strange that different sites have different dates

I took that blurb I posted right off the NHTSA website. Despite the government often being inept at many things, I do trust them to report the proper dates as far as recalls are concerned.

And my car sat only on the lot for 4 days. I ordered it in July 2014, it was delivered to the dealer the 2nd or 3rd week of September 2014. I took delivery on 9/18.

Given that the September 2nd date in the recall notice was manufacture date, my car fell into that period.

I never said I had the issue. I told the OP to go check the recall website. If it does list his car as being affected, and the dealer sold it without checking that first, that would be a huge issue. I believe it is illegal for dealers to sell a car with an outstanding recall on it. Or maybe it's not but they want to put through a law making it illegal to do so. I forget which.

So who has had this issue happen to them? I think a good dealer does the recall before selling them. I thought the same thing. The binding handle recall in December 2014 showed up right after I purchased my car in February 2015. I brought it in for the recall at my first oil change since I wasn't experiencing the issue that the recall was issued for. When I went to pickup the car they said they didn't need to do the recall fix because they did it in December on my car but didn't update the records and that's why it showed up on my owners center on the Chevy website.
