I need new tires for this thing--stock ones are AIDSBOLA. Pure garbage in snow.

I think its partially because they are fairly wide, but also because factory tires suck balls.

I am willing to get a winter tire package I can put on come winter (tires/rims)

I did see some good deals last year, but didn't jump on them cause I was deployed for a good part of the winter. figured I would wait.

thoughts? just get a good set of all seasons? get the rims and snow tires?

Blizzak's are probably your best bet for a dedicated Winter tire on the Impala. If you decide to go All Season, i've always had good luck w BFG's. I have no personal experience with the new G-Force-2 All Seasons but definitely willing to give them a try. I've ran BFG's on everything from lifted Jeeps, 4x4 diesel trucks, and sport cars. They tend to be quiet (even KM2 Mud Terrains) wear even, and get the milage they should. As far as deals, choose your tire and shop for the best price. I've had good luck w Discount Tire.

Have you checked TireRack.com? You can put in your vehicle and build a winter wheel/tire package and get pricing, including TPMS.

I will be ordering mine sometime soon. Dropping from stock 18" wheels to 17" and going narrower on dedicated winter setup. You are right, go narrower for winter. I am doing some Moda wheels with Blizzak WS-80's. I have used previous versions of Blizzak's on multiple different cars and have zero complaints about them in any condition - except if temps get above 50 degrees. If so, swap the stock wheels/tires back on until temps drop again. Dedicated winter tires will all wear much faster in warmer temps.

If just looking to swap tires on your stock wheels, I know Continental All Seasons have good reviews. DWS or PureContacts. Just put new PureContacts on wife's car and hoping they do well this winter.

Good luck and thanks for your service!

how about getting an older jeep for winter? when I had my 95SS I got a jeep to go in the snow. mainly because of course it sucked in even light snow with those wide tires...plus not even an AWD car can make it up my driveway even in one inch of snow ( I had 2 people try with Acura and Rav 4) but the jeep gets me up the driveway in even half a foot of fresh snow. and is great on the roads too

plus its a sin to take the new car out in snow unless you are already caught in the storm :) gotta preserve it at all costs

what width are you looking at Eric?
My setup will be a bit different as I have an 8th Gen LTZ - so 235/50-18 stock.

I am going a -1 setup so 17" wheel/tire setup. Tire Rack had recommended a 225/55-17, but that size is a bit too off compared to stock for me. Closer is their alternate recommended size which is 215/60-17. That is closer overall diameter to stock. Doing the Blizzak WS-80 in that 215/60-17 size. I have used -1 setups on my last two cars. It gives you more sidewall which is preferred for winter driving. Skinnier and more sidewall to cut you through the snow instead of plowing through. So I am doing the Blizzak's on some Moda 17" wheels with TPMS. Mounted, balanced, etc all delivered. Then just have to swap wheels/tires and hopefully use my TPMS tool I have to do the re-program procedure and have working TPMS on the winter wheels, too.

Yes, the handling won't be as sharp, but Blizzak's are incredible, in my experience, for all we get in the winter here in Iowa. Only thing is when we get stretches of temps over 50 degrees or so I always swap the stock wheels/tires back on until temps drop or snows again.

I just did a quick look on Tire Rack for a '15 1LTZ. Says they offer 17, 18, 19, and 20" wheel/tire packages. I can't remember which model you have and what your stock size is, but building a 18" package came out to around $1,400 or so. My 17" package is bit less than that.

My last Blizzak setup I had on my Subaru lasted my 5 winters with no issues. Usually running about November to April time frame since my other tires were not an All Season.
