had my local mechanic inspect the car and he said when i do wipers go to the dealer. he's not normally a dealer kind of guy so just wondering exactly what you guys have been using?
i see on rock auto they have some heavy duty AC delco winter blades for just 11 bucks.
but then i see some ac delco under
Improved Frame Style: Better Design, More Durable Material
finally got around to replacing them. 1 year and 35K on the car. so if you drive less you may be able to get yours to last 10 years
the anco from amazon work just fine 30-24 and 30-18 and were 9.40 each
but they dont have the fancy flip clip the originals do. but they were off and on in about 2 seconds each. wonder if any aftermarkets have the little clip
I always buy replacement wiper blades from my dealer - as I have a close friend in the part's department. Five GM cars in the family. The OEM dealer blades last a long time and fit perfectly. I live in the Midwest with bad winters and hot, humid summers.
2600 miles so still on the OEM blades and will be for quite a while.
I had a Cobalt for 5 years and didn't change them - still had the OEM wiper blades when I traded it and they only had minimal streaking, never once failed inspection. Rain-X kept me from needing to use them, at most speeds the water just rolled off.
After trying every brand of every type, I buy OEM. They work the best without querstion for me. I don't go to the dealer though, I buy online, usually eBay. Always way cheaper than going to my dealer.
Yes. AC Delco for GM vehicles. I get the whole blade, not just the insert. I replace my blades once a year, after the winter, in April. Wiper blades, tires, and brakes. I replace all of those early, before needed.
Does anyone have water spotting in humid type areas when raining? Wipers wipe clean - but before next wipe - it looks like your windshield is water spotted?
I only ask this - because I had a 1992 used w-body that was bad.. I was caught out in the rain once in my new 2014 imp and couldn't believe I was experiencing the same issue.
I have never had this issue in any previous j-body or f-body I've had...
It's like the spots are always "inside" the windshield...can't get rid of them?...
Its water spots on the outside of the windshield. Physical polishing is often required to remove them. At the shop we use "Hard Water Stain Remover" from bio-cleanproducts.com works great. My windshield was a mess because the car was on the lot for 500 days before I bought it. there was water spots, ghost imprints from "SALE" writing, etc. Another really good and more readily available option, is BonAmi powdered dish soap.
I can tell you too stay away from Michelin Stealth wipers, I put them on my 2012 and If they lasted a year I be surprised. I live in Michigan where we experience true 4 seasons style weather and my car is not garaged, but only lasting maybe a year (plus they where a little noisy ) disappointed me. I currently have Bosch Icons and they appear much better than the Michelin ' s .
I'll agree with some of the previous posts about the factory wipers,
For some reason they last long and it will be something I'll consider if the Icons don't give me a few good years.
Do the 9th gens come with "beam" type blades from the factory? I know that the 2012/2013's did not. Personally, while I originally thought that the beam-type blades were cool, I ended up not liking them. They don't do a very good job at keeping the wiper pressed against the glass, in my opinion. They are especially bad on my LaCrosse - I guess it has to deal with the curvature of the windshield. I'm sticking with "normal" wiper blades going forward (the metal kind).
I know in my previous SS the blades lasted 5 years 160k no joke. not a streak or line to be had and cleared the window at 150k as the day I drove it off the lot. I don't expect that from my 15 LTZ as the wipers don't look of the same quality. Every car I have owned the most I have seen is 2 years in Chicago winters (cruze lasted 1.5 years) so whatever they used on my old SS I wish they would get back to that. I only replace when they start leaving lines or show signs of wear.
Looked like they used the RAIN-X style wiper back then.
Have used many, and most clean and last about the same. The delco, bosch, michelin blades seem to all do about the same. Most recent on our impala just last week went with the $10 a piece walmart rain-x blades.
I have had issues getting wipers off. But every brand I have put on, including Bosch, have been pretty easy.
