2018 Impala Premier

I just purchased this car. It has 40,000 miles and the cruise control does not work. It doesn't even turn on the light on the dash. I checked the fuse for adaptive cruise under the hood and its fine. I also checked a couple others that I thought may be associated with it. I checked a couple inside the car on the drivers side as well. I cant find a blown fuse anywhere. What else is there to check?

How long have you had it? Buy from dealership? I'd at least check with dealership to see if they would check into it, maybe covered under warranty? I've got a 2017 with acc cruise and never had any issues,, but car only has 3000 miles too... I'd check with dealership, and what's the saying... You catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar...ask nicely

That sounds like good advice.

The hard part on this is getting a good electrical drawing on such a new car - they're hard to come by without subscribing to a data service.

My first thought on this is to check the switch on the brake pedal. If it's not in the correct state - open instead of closed, or vice versa - then the cruise control won't ever come on. On some cars, that would imply the brake lights are stuck on, which would run the battery down. But on some cars, as I recall, there is a separate switch for the cruise. On my F-150, that switch was on the master cylinder rather than the brake pedal.

Anyway, the brake switch was my first thought. After that, I'm still thinking switches and wiring. The car uses throttle-by-wire, so there's none of the traditional cruise control hardware such as vacuum actuators. It's just a matter of the PCM seeing the on/off and accel/decel inputs from the switches the driver controls.

For me, the next step would be using a voltmeter to make sure the signals are getting thru to the computer(s).
