Unusual sound at cold start

I’m going to take the car in next weekend for an oil change and ask the dealer to watch this. But when our impala has a cold start, when going into reverse we get this sound for about 5-10 seconds. It never happens when warm. Any thoughts?

Sounds very similar to what my 2013 does. Few others on here have the issue to. I notice it more if I start it up and right away put it in gear. I think that rpm and cold exhaust trigger a harmonic resonance of some sort.
First I've heard of on a 9th gen though. Still might be worth checking out this thread

Claimed to find the issue as a flex pipe.

I was sitting at a traffic light yesterday and heard a rattle from the car next to me. And that was my diagnosis.

Then I wondered how long they would put up with it before getting it repaired. Some folks will just put up with it.

And complain to their neighbor about poor quality, but never get it fixed :)

I am glad I found someone else that has the same exact problem. Mine had it at around 30K miles and it is the same exact sound. I would use the autostart to try to avoid it but its still a pain to deal with and sounds so bad when I am in my garage too echoing to all the neighbors. I will take it in to see if its the heat shield.

I had the same problem and it was all bad. It ended up being the heat shield inside of the wheel well on my passenger rear side. Bending it seemed risky so before I started drilling holes to secure it I tried hitting the side that was making contact with some rubberized undercoating left over from my truck and I haven't heard it since. Make sure you use a drop cloth and tape EVERYTHING off that you don't want the undercoating on because that ish sprays everywhere.

It was hella embarrassing. I like turning heads with my vehicles but only on my terms and that noise was obnoxiously loud in parking garages. Good luck man!
