Cabin Air Filter

For a man born with 11 thumbs, I'm very proud of myself. I just successfully changed my cabin air filter! It took about 10 minutes (after watching a YouTube video). Two things: One, it's amazing how many options are out there for the filter itself. Rock Auto has at least 6, from various manufacturers and priced from $6 on up. I found some at another site that were $35! I paid $12 with shipping for an AC/Delco job with charcoal. Speaking of which, there are plenty of options. Plain, charcoal, baking soda, you name it. Sadly, no manly scent of Brut.
Two, for a part that requires replacement every 22,500 miles, I'm thinking it should be easier than it is to replace. Seven screws, freeing up the glovebox door, removing a plastic panel, then removing a snap-fit cover and finally the filter itself. Still, it's easier than my wife's Saturn Vue. That one, the entire glovebox assembly has to come out. Seems like there should be an easier way. On the other hand, it's probably a profit center for dealers. Anyhow, if I can do it anyone can, so have at it!

How can you complain about the difficulty of a job that a man with 11 thumbs can do in 10 minutes???
As for filter prices, check out what your dealer sells them for. Just the filter only, not installed. $54 at my local Chevy garage.

I know, right? That's less than one minute per thumb!

And at $54, I think that qualifies as a dealer profit center...
