Puddle lights don't work?

I recently bought a used 2016 Impala and I noticed that there are puddle lights under my side mirrors on my doors but they don't work. Neither side illuminates at night as it should... Am I missing something here?

Sounds like you are missing light...

So if you open your door or unlock it with the remote you don't see the lights come on?

Bring it back to the dealer and have them fix it

That's what's next, wanted to make sure they were actually supposed to work. I'm definitely taking it in. Thanks

So last week I found out that my puddle lights do work! They illuminated one night when I unlock the trunk with the key fob, that’s when I noticed that there work. Is this the only time they activate? Seems like all other times the light never work.

Seems like only when I unlocked doors at night ...

That makes sense, they only need to come on at night and when you are about to get in or out of your car. I am not positive but I think they come on when you exit your car at night as well.

The ambient light sensor and the car's computer determine what lights are turned on. Your "approach lights" (if activated) will not turn on during daylight if you unlock the car with the remote (which include the puddle lights and the back-up lights).

All else fails - read the vehicle owner's manual.

I checked mine last night. They only go on when I use my key fob to unlock the car. At that time the headlights, turn signal lights on the mirror and puddle lights illuminate for like 30 seconds or so and then go off. I think they also go on when you are getting out of the car after you park

Manual says the light will illuminate the ground when the door is opened at night but mine only does so when trunk is unlocked with key fob or the car is unlocked with key fob. When I open the door by pressing door handle buttton I get no puddle light. I figure this is how it works.... Iím good with it 👍🏼

I checked mine last night and it comes on when door is unlocked via fob. It also comes on when I turn off the car and take the key out of the ignition and open the door to get out.

I have push start ignition and also remote start. That may cause things to operate somewhat different. Just my guess...

I have remote start as well. I wouldn't think it would matter about push start. As soon as you turn off the car and open the door they should come on.
Like you read in the manual, your puddle lights should illuminate the ground when the door is opened.

How bright do you really need them to be, to see the ground 5-6 feet down though?
