Hello all! It's been a while since I've been here but I just bought a 2014 Chevy Impala Limited LT last Friday since trading in my 2011 Chevy Malibu. So far I'm loving the new ride and glad I switched back, at least sort of.
So the problem is that when I bought the car, it only came with one key. I ALWAYS have a backup available so this is an issue. I ordered two new keyfobs and was able to program them with my Tech2 clone with no problems. I also got two new keys cut, specifically ILCO PT04-PT5 keys. But trying to program them just brings up the Service Theft System.
So far I've tried the standard use the master key and wait until the security light turns off, then shut it off, pull the key out and put the key to be programmed in as fast as possible, and turn it to the ON position. Nothing, just brings up the message no matter how long I wait. Both keys do this.
I've also tried the one tutorial I found on YouTube to do the 10 minute thing 3 times. All times the security light turned off but the keys were not programmed as they still say Service Theft System when you try doing anything with them. Again, both keys do this.
I found a website that mentioned an ILCO clone tool. Do I have to use this instead? Should I bring them back to the hardware store since they weren't able to successfully program them. (She didn't really know what she was doing, so I thought I would be able to get it to work when I got them home). I had a key made at this same hardware store a few years ago for my Malibu and had no problems with it, they got it programmed just fine.
