WickedGoat had RF interference with a brand of LED's he briefly ran. He recently got rid of them for BPS Perfect Fit lamps.

This is my first excursion into the world of LED headlights. I've been biding my time, waiting for LED emitters to evolve enough to make them worth the money, because I was aware of all the issues, which are primarily the same ones you've mentioned -

  • Fan noise
  • RF interference
  • Marginal or incorrect light throw
  • BCM error messages

Not to mention ...

  • Wiring hassles
  • Having to hack up the dust covers on the light housings

Any one of those issues would have been enough for me to return an LED kit, so I never bothered to try LED's. But when WickedGoat discovered the BPS Lighting "Perfect Fit" kit, I was intrigued, because they appeared to have none of these drawbacks.

Now that I'm all in, I can confirm that these LED's do not exhibit any of them, except for one that remains to be verified. I have not yet confirmed that light throw is 100% correct and without grossly objectionable dark spots within the beam area, because I just installed them this morning. Right now, I can only say that the patterns on my wall look the same as those from the OEM halogens.

I can also confirm that these LED's do work in DRL mode. From what I've read, many LED's won't, but these work fine as DRL's in my car.

Thanks for that! I went to Amazon real quick and put in my car in the filter and it claimed there were no BPS products for my car. When I get more time I will investigate further and report back.

Spot on! The first brand I ordered were from Superbrightleds.com. While the lighting was good, the bulbs themselves weren't a good fit for the Impala. The heat sinks got hot and the wire made contact with it and it was starting to melt. The bulbs were a tad bit too big for the housings and popped the adjustment socket off. When connected to the foglamp harness, there was very noticeable static on the radio. This was clearly evident when you turned the foglamps on with the radio on. I didn't bother with the noise suppression trick because, well, nobody should have to do that. I will give a lot of credit to Superbrightleds because they refunded me on both sets of bulbs, no questions asked.

I researched some more and found these BPS bulbs and decided to try them. So far, so good. No stereo noise and no issues with install. I am satisfied with the light output and have not been high beam flashed by anyone. I am no technical expert on beam patterns and headlamp housings but I feel these are adequate without being annoying. Believe me, more than 50% of the vehicles out here where I live have LED or HID lighting and some of these vehicles are annoying. The glare is too much and the super annoying LED light bars they add on to the front bumpers are just stupid. I have $110 into LED bulbs and while that may seem high, I feel it is fair for this brand of bulb. The DRLs work as they should, the bulbs are clocked right, at 3 and 9:00 in the housings, no fans so no noise and no radio static. They also stay on when you flip the brights on, whether this is because I still have halogens in the brights or this is a function of the LEDs I don't know. These also come with a 2 year warranty. And these guys ship super fast. On Ebay it was really fast, and on Amazon, it took them a few days to get the order going but when they did ship them, I had them the next day, again, from Canada to Missouri.

It looks like the 7th gens take 9005 and 9006 for hi and low beams... here is their ebay auction. You should be able to look these up on Amazon and just order them.

Drove home after work at 415 in the morning. I am very happy with the light output of these bulbs. I have no problem recommending them to anyone on this forum. It will set you back $100 to $150 if you do all 3 sets or just the lows and fogs. This was my first foray into aftermarket headlight lighting.

I took a short drive last night and was more than satisfied with these LED's. Light throw is excellent, dispersion is fine, and beams are acceptably uniform. The beams aren't quite as uniform as the halogen beams were, but certainly more than good enough - no big nasty dark spots.

All three locations are working fine for me. Low beams provide ample lighting without dazzling oncoming drivers. High beams are killer bright with good illumination of distant objects and road. And the driving lights illuminate the periphery very nicely.

Haven't yet tried them out on the highway, but I have no doubt they'll perform very well.

Good morning,


This thread got me into the idea that I would try out these led bulbs, the fit was pretty good but i have noticed a bit of RF interference picking up distant radio stations nit not much. I put one in my lowbeam on the drivers side and the other in my passenger side highbeam to compare. I find that I did not quite like the throw of the low beam and i found was dimmer then my normal highbeams but keep in mind that I am using H9s in my low beams. As for my highbeam I still see that the normal H9 bulb in there was brighter at its focal point, not sure if there was better disbursement. One thing I did truly notice was sometimes during startup the lowbeam LED would flicker as the starter motor was running, I also think it may have effected the starter motor behavior as well. I am not sure if i want to use the LEDs as my highbeams or on my fog lights. One think I am finding about changing my bulbs in general is that every time you twist in a bulb you grind away at the housing with the tabs on the bulb regardless if its LED or halogen.

That is kind of odd to read about the RF interference. The 1st set of bulbs I ordered from super bright led's had all kinds of radio frequency interference. The 1st thing I checked when I installed these bulbs was radio noise and there is none. Even to this day my radio sounds just as good with the stock halogen bulbs in there.

I only replaced my low beams and fog lamp bulbs, not my high beams, so I can't comment on the high beam versus low beam comparison. I did not have to adjust my head lamps at all when I put the LEDs in.

In any event, there is a 2 year warranty on the bulbs. I would exchange them and see what happens.
