So this weekend was cold out here and clipped parking curb on the side and it cracked the passenger side rocker panel. Does anyone know how hard these are to replace and can you only get them at the dealership.

if you have a 2006-2013 8th gen as the parent forums describes then i don't think it would be too terrible to replace it. personally i'd probably go to a junkyard and find one for a whole lot less money already painted.i bought an SS style spoiler off of ebay so i'd imagine the side skirt shouldn't be difficult to source. pre-painted in my mind is the most feasible.

when under my 2010 in the past i found the clips that hold the side skirt on the middle were fairly easily movable (i would push them back on the body every once in a while when i notice they had moved over time). maybe a plasic body tool would be the best to help assist them off the car without too much scratching involved. i'd look out for some screws at the front and rear to be sure it is just the clips holding them on.

in that case, sure. it was on the car so it's painted. i've heard of no difference in the body panels like that between US and Canadian cars. maybe throw a little insurance on it if you can for shipping damage (if the Canadian Post Office is like the US it can get a little spotty on how they handle packages occasionally.

$475 isn't all that bad for part, prep, paint and install.

That said, if you did it yourself, you could probably save some money. You can get matching cans of paint from several sources. For example, Duplicolor sells matching colors, and automotive paint shops can mix and fill rattle cans to match as well.

Prep will be key. Plastics require different prep - different primers - in order to get the paint to stick, and to not fade differently than the rest of the car. So you will want to research that a bit before laying down any primer.

For comparison, I can find the the passenger side rocker for around $150 US, but they want $175-200 for shipping! The total is not too far from your $475.

At which point, I think I'd be looking at a junk yard. If you can find one there, you could take it to a body shop and have them paint and install it, and probably do it all for less than $475.
