2008 Impala LT Options and add ons

Hi everyone,
I just picked up a 2008 Impala LT. The dealer I got it from did not have the remote, but while checking the RPO I found it has AP3, or remote start. so I ordered a couple remotes, hopefully it will be easy to program them to get everything to work.

Just wondering if the 2008 is similar to my 2004 Monte Carlo SS, in that all of the wireing harnesses for the optional accessories are already in the car? I want to add the ceiling console with Homelink remote, not sure if I can just cut the headliner where it clips on and the wires are already in the ceiling? Or if a separate harness is needed for this?

Also would wiring for heated power seats be under the carpet on the passenger side? I know the heater control panel has power seat switches, and i can get a used one but are all the harnesses already in the car?
Thanks
Dave C

Also a question for Foglights, if I get the foglights and switch off a used impala would the wiring harness be inside the car already? Would it be plug and play like a Monte Carlo?

thanks
Dave

Just a quick check on GM Parts Now shows only two different console wiring harnesses between trim levels. 25893162 W/ O CONSOLE and 25893163 W/ CONSOLE. You might just luck out. Good luck.

Thanks rjayl. Probably won't luck out, seems 2008 is the year that GM tried to save every penny they could on these cars due to the bankruptcy. So unless it came with a sunroof (the console also has a sunroof switch) I would have to guess that it has the W/O CONSOLE harness. Also found out last week after sliding on an icy bridge, that in 2008 ABS is an option, and my car is not equipped with it. Oh well, I know how to drive without it, just shocked me that it was an extra cost option since every GM car I have had since 1995 had ABS standard.
And I'm sure the Fog lights are the same, I looked under the car and could not locate a harness to plug the fog lights in.

That stinks. Typical GM. At least on the bright side the remotes are easy to program.

Yes it is! Got a 8 dollar remote from ebay and now my locks, trunk and auto start all work! Took like 2 minutes to program it.

So true. 2008 was the year when GM deleted anti-lock brakes from LS and LT Impalas as standard equipment. 2007 models all had it, also it was added back in for all models in 2009 I think. They also deleted the center console cubby tray for 2008. All 2007 models had it as standard equipment. I had to buy that tray even for my 2009 Impala LTZ. That part was never added back in as standard equipment. And GM priced this $ 5 part at an outrageous $50 if you wanted one.

here's something I just found out, I compared the headlight harness for the 2008 LT (no standard fog lights) and the 2008 LTZ (standard fog lights).

There are 2 different part #s , one for auto start AP3 and one for no auto start. The auto start harness is #22740008 . So am I correct to think the fog light connectors are on this harness somewhere? I have attached a photo, if anyone can point out by the drawing which wire should go to the foglights...

cubby tray

Hi Z71, can you post a photo of the cubby tray? Mine does not have it, and not sure where it goes, so a photo would be nice.

thanks
