Cool Radio dash kit

I installed a single din radio in my impala today, it works. But it just doesnt fit right.

The dash kit I bought is the Scosche AI GMT2049AB

First. The aftermarket stereo did not fit in the bezel. I had to really trim it down, sides and top with a dremel.. And the pocket had to be trimmed along the top as well. It also pushed the sides of the bezel out so it just doesn't look like it fits.

Then when I put it in the dash it sticks out too far. The dash does not snap back into place properly and the stereo bezel does not fit either it's overlapping the dash and wont snap in place.

Has anyone used this kit? Is there a better fitting option out there?

I have been putting together a wishlist for my impala as I will be installing a deck and new subs sometime this year.

Have done tons of research on dash kits and not many seem to fit properly.

Did find this one however there is only 2 reviews. But, I have read some forums and people suggested this one

IMO: Scosche and Metra kits are very cheap and very universal therefor may not fit the application they state

I wish I had more pics before the facepate. I did have to Dremel out the corners of the piece just behind the faceplate, which also houses the led.
It is a solid piece, not hard to work with. The actual trim ring for the deck (not shown) had to be trimmed slightly as well.

So...Just do this;

Yeah, that's cool and all, but $70+ just for a dash kit?

I used a piece of junk $8 dash kit that I was absolutely not happy with. I had to cut it up 6 different ways just to get it to fit, and it still didn't fit properly. Never bothered to replace it though.

I used the Scosche t-harness in the Amazon link you posted. Not sure why the other one uses relays...

[QUOTE=g25racer;1417562]Ya that's kinda cool but, i'd rather not pay $70 for some led's staring me in the face at night time.

My bad the led's cost another $20 yikes

That's why you tie it in to your dimming lead,or put a tint film between/under the faceplate,or put it on it's own dimmer.

Hey patyson, I noticed you've got an LED retrofit in your cluster. Do those dim with the dimmer? Cuz mine do not

Did you do it yourself or have it done? I did mine myself both with standard LEDs with a resistor and with 12v LEDs, and neither dim.
