Hi all. New guy here and have just bought a 1989 Caprice which has 54,000 miles on it. Interior is perfect except for the headliner which is falling. The car has sat outdoors and not drive for a while and has failing paint on the roof. I bought this car to replace my 81 Malibu which suffered terminal rear chassis rust. So the Caprice is the newest car I have owned!
One thing I need advice on is when starting the idle is high. its a fuel injection car so kicking it down does not help. The owners manual says to depress the pedal and release it slowly which will knock the idle speed down. The idle does eventually drop on its own. As an aside the estimates to replace the headliner ranges from $350 to $500.
Well, Photobucket seems to be the easiest to post photos to car forums. Not only this forum, but the other ones that I am a member of. I don't love Photobucket either, but it's absolutely workable.
Okay I opened an account on Photobucket and have photos of the Caprice on it. But I cannot figure how to get them to this site. There is nothing indicated on PB site.
When you're viewing a pic on FB, if you look to the right towards the top you will see a section called "share this photo" with 4 boxes under it, each with a unique code to use. Click on the "direct" box, which will automatically copy the url onto your clip board, then when you make your post here, you will see a small icon above the box you type your post into that looks like a couple of mountain peaks with the sun above them (it's to the right of the text options). Click on that icon and you'll get a pop-up that you paste the photo url into and the forum will automatically add it to your post when you hit the reply or preview button.
Wise decision.
Just sayin

Click on the "go advanced" button. Then click on the paper clip icon. Browse your picture file you want and select and upload. There is a size limit as to how big your picture can be. Cant remember what it is off the top of my brain but it's on here somewhere.
I had the headliner replaced on our 1991 Caprice , a couple of years ago , $ 125 - $150 . The guy seems to have done a good job .
God bless
Wyr
