Found my oil leak

I tracked down my oil drip, which is a more steady drip now

Looks like my rear main seal is bad. The car sat for a year, but the leak has gotten worse the past few days. Would you put in the lucas oil additive and hope that it fixes it in the short term? The car has 190k on it, so I don't know what I should do.

Found a mechanic down state some that will do it for $150. Should I try to do it myself or just pay him to do it if I go that route.

FYI-1992 Olds Cruiser with L05

Do you have the oil cooler on your car? I swore it was the rear main leaking on my 91' L03 wagon, but it turned out to be the oil filter adapter.

It was leaking in a way, that the oil ran down the back of the block and towards the torque converter.

I finally found it by jacking the car, pulling the TC inspection cover, cleaning all the oil up, and watching it as the car ran..

Will check that out. Thank you. Anyone have photos from that area?

Taking it to a mechanic that does work on the side on sunday. $200 bux and it should be fixed.

What plugs/wires/distributor cap would you recommend for this High Mileage beaut? I don't think its had a tune up in quite a long time. What else should I look at replacing while I am at it.

Fwiw I am getting my parts from Car Quest(get a discount).

Yeah I will do the pcv. The filter appears to be a new fram air filter, and the belts look in great shape.

I was hoping to squeak a bit more out of it, and at the same time maybe have better MPG. I know thats asking alot but one can wish yeah?

Then i would start polishing a turd.

Better idea would be to court you into selling that gem you have. Course I would have to get a second mortgage to afford it.
