my friend has a 1992 Buick roadmaster with a trunk that closes automatically?

Recently the electronic latch has stopped working leaving the trunk partially open but not flapping...any one know how to make it a manual latch, the motor is waaay to expensive to replace, told him I'd ask

with those vehicles, you are almost left with no choice but to replace the motor because it will cost you just as much to convert it to manual.

he can get the motor from a junk yard

Try getting to the motor shaft. The way it works is it spins the shaft that the latch is on upwards when you open the trunk and then pull the latch down when you close the lid. You should be able to spin the shaft to where it would rest if it had closed automatically. This has been done on several Ford models that I know of.
