Where is the wheel speed sensor? 2010 chevy impala

Im sorry if this sounds like a really stupid question, i just havent worked one of these before 🤦‍♂️😂 with that out of the way. My moms 2010 impala abs light, stability track and traction control light came on. The only code i pulled off my solus scanner that i would think would trigger this was right wheel speed sensor (C0040). Ive looked it up and ive got multiple answers just want the right one, is the speed sensor apart of the wheel hub? Just want clarification before i order parts. Thanks for your time guys!

I would replace the whole unit just due to the cost. Here is one from detroit axle which GM uses as one of it's suppliers.

You should replace the harness and you will need a special socket to remove axle nut and re-install. Don't go cheap use a good brands like Moog ETC

Seems a common issue and you may be able to change just the pigtail abs sensor https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...505649&jsn=556. I have not changed this myself but have changed a couple hub assemblies. If you do change the hub assembly, rock auto has the genuine gm part for around $100. While this will be shown to be a delco part, both that I have purchased have been stamped skf https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...sn=585&jsn=585. Those are front hubs, the rears are a different part.

My 6 year constantly asks why. What adults can learn from 5 and 6 year olds, to listen with your ears and mind open. Hard to learn when you don't listen ......

before ordering parts, try inspecting the wiring coming from the sensor and see if you find any breaks. a few people on these forums have simply repaired the wiring and avoided a new hub when it didn't need it. the wiring repair is fairly easy from the sounds of it and could be done within 30 minutes for your first time i think.

It sounds like the wires could be rubbing the control arms or the area they are ran along. just something to check before throwing parts at it that may not fix the actual issue. hope this helps.

The right side on 2010 has the harness that runs up behind alternator and compressor(like the 2012? I can’t remember been a while since totaled the 10)I believe, then across to control arm and to hub. GM uses pop in zip tie holders which are tightened to much on the wires with no free travel at all. Over time the wire flexing at one of those, or rubbing where it goes up behind alternator will rub and ground intermitently. From what I’ve seen when you are getting multiple dash lights like that it’s more times than not going to be a wire issue. Also check where the wires run behind and around the axle. A lot of times there will be NO visible wear but the wire will be broken inside the insulation. You can run ohm tests end to end on each wire and once leads are hooked up start moving the wires around and you’ll find the fault.

Here’s a good article explaining it: http://ricksfreeautorepairadvice.com...c0040-abs-tcs/
