Floor Jack locations

I have an 08 impala. I used the crossmember to jack the car up. The lip of the crossmember in that area bent slightly. Would using a piece of wood prevent it from bending more next time or is the a different spot I should use?

Usually use a 2x6 about 16 inches long on my wide body floor jack here. No issues with it bending anything that way as it distributes the lift point more evenly.

My 6 year constantly asks why. What adults can learn from 5 and 6 year olds, to listen with your ears and mind open. Hard to learn when you don't listen ......

Hum. I just use the same location for the regular jack.

i would use the rear motor mounts of the engine cradle in the front (the cup of the jack fit nicely around the bushing location to cup it well) and in the rear beefy looking center section of the axle i think it was in the rear. in the rear i would use a board to help if i had one nearby. on the rear axle i will note you wanted to make sure you didn't get any of the tie rods or other smaller bars running through that area as it could bend them with the weight of the car.
