Hello:

I know I am new to this forum but everybody is dancing around what TIRE RATING those tires have, honestly.

I have worked with Oversized Loads as a Pilot (Escort) Car (Vehicle). First, since I live in New England in Connecticut, I swear by Town Fair Tire they have always treated me right, but I still go by a Tire Rating Chart when purchasing tires for all sizes, even on-line.

This will prevent that annoying tire shimmy, even when all of the tires on your vehicle are balanced, and car has had a 4-way thrust allignment done.

Trust me when I say that I retired my 1998 Buick Century LTD with a cracked engine block and over 300,000+ miles on my car and each tire that I put on my vehicle had no less than a "T" rating on my car. That means that when I am going 80mph plus, my tires were rated for a maximum speed of 125mph. That means that at 85~100mph I still had another 25mph to play with and I never had that issue again with my car.

Check out what mph rating your tires you have on your car. Do not allow the tire place to dictate that mph maximum number for you, honestly, only you know how you drive and having a car that you do not have to hesitate in quick thinking manuvers and defensive driving is a must for today's idiots on the road. Hope this helps...see you in the forums.

Cheers!

Hello:

I made a mistake. I said a "T" rating with a 125mph max speed.

The correction is a "U" rating with a 124mph max speed. Is what I had. I apologize for getting those mixed up.

Cheers!

New to the forum but my last car had a shake I couldnt get rid of.

New tires were a HUGE improvement. I went with (pirelli centrino p7) and noticed less road noise, better feel over bumps and smoother ride on highway speeds.

The biggest thing that helped was having my alignment go from a slight toe out to a slight toe in. It stabilized the car on highway speeds and reduced some vibrations.

The combo of change made a 90% improvement over the original feel

Belt shift can cause this issue Unbalanced tires can cause this issue many worn suspension parts can cause this as well. I would have them check the run out on the axles even the slightest run out (Bent axle) will cause a vibration.

I have never owned a Chevy, but I liked this car and decided to purchase it.

I noticed last week that when the car reaches 70-80 MPH on the freeway that there is a slight vibration at the floor boards/gas pedal and seat. Upon braking, there is no noticeable shake or vibration in the steering wheel. I took the car in to the dealer and had them balance the wheels and inspect/test drive to see problem. They claimed that it drove like a dream and did not notice any issue whatsoever. I can clearly tell the difference between the smooth ride at 60 MPH and when the vibration comes on at around 70-80 MPH.

Any thoughts on what might be causing this?
Same car same issues. Dealer no help. Tire balancing and alignmment at TownFaire Tires did help. The dealer had said thecar alignment was good and tires didnt balancing. Town fair found one tire out of balance the alignment was slightly out. But over time the high speed vibration comes back. I think new better tires are needed.
