Official Advent OGM-1 Thread..

Ok.. So I have gotten a few messages regarding the headunit I put in.. Figured I would make an official thread.. The headunit has been working flawlessly for me and I have contacted the Advent dealer I purchased it from who is working with Advent directly so they can add the Impala as an application.. In a previous thread I mentioned I was having issues with video playing via the ipod.. Got the new cable and now am able to get video playing via the ipod.. All the other issues I was having were due to the installer's installation of all the products.. The ONLY issue that I have is that I get more static then usual (in certain spots) while listening to am/fm.. On the Advent headunit's main harness there is a wire that is labeled in the diagram as "power antenna".. On our factory harness there is no wire that matches up when both plugs are attached.. So I am not sure if we just do not have that or if it is something with the layout of the pins.. Also I have tinted windows all around and I have heard that tinted windows can interfere with the am/fm signal.. And to be honest I never really listened to am/fm.. When I bought the car I went right out and bought the ipod kit so I can't even say for sure if the am/fm was really different before the advent install.. But regardless my installer told me that I could purchase a power antenna and install that to see if it helps.. I have since purchased an auto loc hidden power antenna but just waiting to get around to installing it.. Will update further on how that goes but not really a priority for me as I have xm radio and ipod which takes care of all the music i need.. Other then little static on am/fm there really is nothing else that I can say is a downfall with the advent ogm-1.. I made a little video that I am posting in this thread just to show how the unit functions and whatnot.. If anyone has any questions feel free to post them up or if you want you can contact the Advent dealer that I purchased from over at adcmobile.com or you can go on the advent website..

So factory xm is retained as well? I thought I read on their website that it is an add on. Or did you add an xm receiver?

Yes. On star is also retained. No extra modules or anything needed. This unit is pretty much plug and play.

Hmmm... That's not what I thought you meant although I have not tried that yet.. I mean if you know where you are going you can just type in address or name of location directly into the nav unit... Will have to try the direction download from onstar.. When I said it worked I meant you can still talk to onstar reps, hear them over speakers, and make calls and whatnot... Will go out in a few and try to see if I can get directions like that..

Not a problem at all.. I actually just went on my iphone and used the onstar app to send the directions to the vehicle.. It does not show up on the navigation screen however you still get the turn by turn directions over the speakers as you always could.. I think in order to get the onstar directions to the nav it must be a factory equipped navigation unit.. this is more of a "factory look" navigation..

The Advent ogm-1 uses the igo primo navigation system.. I am trying to find out more info but it looks like there is an app for the iphone for this software.. trying to research if you can use your iphone to send directions/addresses to the advent headunit... the one good thing about this unit is that the tech guys are always updating the stuff with new features and whatnot..

Yes you can send them to the vehicle.. Just not to the Advent navigation unit..

I paid 1150 on the unit shipped but that included the backup camera.. If you just want the headunit its 1050 shipped and that includes the ipod video cable.. No extra harnesses, modules, etc to make anything work.. You keep everything in the car like onstar, steering wheel controls, etc..
