MyLink touch display shut off after hitting pot hole

While driving to work yesterday, I rolled through a stretch of dirt road with pretty bad pot holes. I was only going 5-10mph when my display shut off. The audio is still working, and i can connect my phone audio via bluetooth, but have no display. I've so far attempted a few things on various forums, but nothing seems to work. I've pressed and held the Fast Forward and home buttons for 10 seconds, Shut my car off with the door open, Started the car with the door open, removed the negative battery lead for 10 minutes, and removed both battery leads for 30 mins. Upon reconnecting the battery, the same issue persists. I'm becoming quite frustrated with this, as i've had the car for only a year. I've had some problems before, where when i shift from reverse to drive, the back up camera remains active. also, its worth noting that all of my detection systems have begun to need servicing (front, side, and rear) within the past week. first it was the side detection system, and then the front, followed by the rear.

several things can help us to troubleshoot your issues. start with the year and trim package. next, do you have warranty still? i'm assuming you have a 9th gen (2014+) due to the backup camera statement and detection systems mentioned.

stop by the introductions section and tell us about yourself and your ride. please provide pictures if you do make an introduction, the tapatalk app makes it pretty easy to do so from a smart phone/tablet.

Apologies, I've got a 2015 Impala 2LTZ 3.6L I'm out of warranty as far as i know at ~65000 miles. As an update, i've now broken down my entire dash to get behind the radio and mess with the cords to see if something was loose. no such luck. From what i've been reading, my issue sounds like a possible BCM malfunction? i hear that excessive vibration can ruin them, and i've just recently moved to a home on a dirt road. i'll head over to the introduction section now and get that filled out.

I'm about to head up to the store and pick up a couple of fuses. It looks like engine block fuse 62 controls my sensors, and 4/5 control the radio and display respectively

Did you check the amp connections? I am assuming yours have the amp in the trunk as well as mine. My sound went out once and I pressed in the connectors and it came back on. Worth a try to see if it fixes your issue.

I did not. I actually still have sound, and as far as I know, all functionality of the radio minus the touch display

ive just finished replacing a few fuses, and it didnt change. i replaced fuse #62 in the engine compartment (rear camera/park assist/side blind spot alert) which was blown, but i still got the errors upon reconnecting the battery negative. i also replaced 2 fuses in the instrument panel on the driver side #4 (radio) which wasnt blown, but had some dark spots near the base on the metal, and #5 (display) which i was hoping to be the issue, which also had darkening near the base. neither of these fixed my issue, which would make me suspect whatever part could have made the fuse in the engine compartment blow, which if im not mistaken brings me back to the BCM?

Any new ideas on this one? Now my radio doesnt connect to my phone, and all that I listen to is pandora. What could cause all of my sensors plus the touch screen display to fail?

i've heard of their being firmware updates on the newer radios. wonder if you're due for one from the dealer? maybe a TSB or silent recall on it?

That thought did occur to me. I looked into that, but since i have no display, i cant get into the settings to check version number. I have been doing my utmost to not have to bring it to a dealer, but it's starting to look like that's my only option unfortunately. I'm broke at the moment, so until my next check, I'm stuck with the inconvenience. I'll definitely stay open to suggestions in the meantime.

One clue you have here is that the side blind spot alert fuse was blown. Both side object sensor modules/radars use low speed GM Lan to communicate as well as over 12 different modules in your car and some of them are the radio, the info display, amp, BCM, HVAC, etc. It's pissiable that the side blind zone alert modules are corroded internally and/or the wire harness connectors are corroded/Have water in them and are shorting out the low speed GM Lan. One thing you can check is look inside the rear facia just behind the rear wheels and check both modules for expanding in their brackets and water/corrosion in the wire harness connectors at the modules. The modules should be able to move easily out of there brackets.
The right side module communicates threw the left hand side module. If there is an issue with one of the modules and it is causing your issues you can unplug the left hand side detection module, this will take both modules out of the circuit, and see if things come back.
If unplugging the side blind alert modules doesn't help then you'll have to bite the bullet and take your vehicle into your GM dealer for a better diagnosis.

Due to cold michigan weather, I haven't had the opportunity to remove the fascia to check out the sensor modules, but I have a few updates. In addition to my sensors and screen being out, my airbag light started going on and off intermittently as I drove. All my gauges would fluctuate wildly during this transition of on and off and then return to normal. Now, my remote is not detected, and the door entry buttons do not work. I cannot start my car unless the remote is in the consoles remote receptacle, and even then, my car is in anti theft mode, where my turn signals, heat, and all gauges do not function. I can drive from a to b but do not know how fast, and cannot signal. I'm between checks, so I can't afford a dealership right now, but plan on taking it in at the end of the week.

Any new ideas in the meantime?

Just for giggles, see what it would cost at the dealership to have it checked out. It maybe something they know of and can fix cheaply. Unfortunatly I don't think that will be the case. but its worth finding out what they say at least. You may need a new touch screen replaced.

one last thing to check out. Check out the brain box and try to pull it out, unplug and replug the wires. its located far right passenger side way up under the dash, you'll have to flip upside down on your back to access it. I'll see if i can send a photo. I upgraded mine to do gps on screen and to do so i had to swap out that brain box. ($1000 upgrade) but my assumption is that could be the issue maybe that brain box perhaps.

Does your screen still scroll up when you hit the button under it?? if not you may not have power to the screen and

On a side note. The vibration claim i think is false. My stereo in my car is so intense it shakes the cabinets in the house from curbside, so I don't think they are 'prone to vibration issues' well at least mine anyways.

I've already broken down the dash and checked the connections behind the stereo. Everything is hooked up, and I still have power. The screen moves up and down, and the radio still plays over aux. Let me know about that "Brain box"
