Opinion on perfect radio for 2011 impala

Hi everyone, new here. I have a 2011 impala. I'm looking to put a touchscreen radio with a back up camera, Bluetooth, USB port and navigation. The thing is I want to keep my steering wheel controls and Bose speakers as well as my onstar which is activated. I haven't the slightest clue where to begin looking. Any and all help is appreciated. Money isn't to much of an issue. I plan on saving little by little until I can get exactly what I want but I don't want to go crazy spending on buying and installing the radio.

I believe @jtrosky will be able to help you out. Think he does a nice Rosen head unit that has most/all of that.

Instead of giving all of the details again, I'll just point you towards some existing posts/threads on the Rosens. Very quickly, they are plug-and-play, OEM-look, DVD/Navigation head-units. The fully integrate with all stock features (warning chimes, XM, On-star, steering-wheel controls, etc) without need any additional adapters or professional installation. I've sold about 15 of them to other forum members now and they've all installed them on their own without any issues (I also provide some custom documentation to assist with installation and full tech support via email or phone if needed).

Anyway, here are the links - I just recently got another batch of both GM1010's and GM1210's that I haven't even put up for sale yet - so I have some available.

Everything you need to know about plug-and-play units thread:

Lastly, here is the "for sale" thread that I re-open whenever I get a new batch - this has lots of details on exactly what you get and a ballpark price (the prices goes up or down a little as needed, depending on what I pay for the units, condition, etc).

+1 on the Rosen. I have a GM1010 in my 2008 w/ Bose. Bluetooth (phone and music), backup camera, navigation, OnStar, XM, steering wheel controls, the whole nine yards.

Hi, Anthony, and welcome to the forum.

Either a 1010 or 1210 Rosen unit really is a perfect match for any Gen8 Impala. I think you would find it to be a significant upgrade over the OEM head unit, but it would look as if it was installed at the factory, especially with jtrosky's - or your own - custom Impala splash screens.

I picked up a 1210 from Jim last month, and I've been genuinely impressed with it. I recommend Jim's customized units without reservation. If you haven't already checked out my Rosen 1210 installation thread on this page, have a look at it. I've included a few photos of the installed head unit in action (about half way down page 1 of that thread) that will give you a good idea of how well one of these would integrate into your car.

Each Rosen model possesses advantages and disadvantages when compared with the other, but they're both great units and either will enable you to retain your factory steering wheel controls and warning chimes.

Cheers!

T-

had i not already wired in an amp and new speakers i probably would. however the single din kenwood works fine (for 6 years now) and i've no reason to change it out...but it would be very nice if i felt the ambition to do so.

Forgive me, car audio systems are not my forte. Would it be all that much more work to hook a Rosen up to your amp and speakers?

I didn't do the install myself (i helped install it but the wiring to the amp/radio was done by a former coworker). i don't know exactly which wire does what at the back of the radio and the wiring to the amp/speakers is a product called 9-wire (9 wires in one bundle), so it's not near the stock wiring harness basically. i'd have to take it in to the shop to have it done properly.

Yeah, I do have just a few... :-)

My wife tried to give me an intervention the other day when a few more were delivered to the house. :-)

But - not ALL of those are going to be sold. I basically buy them in bulk - some work as-is, some need a new DVD drive, some need a new touchscreen, some need a new faceplate (cosmetic damage), some need a new GPS module, etc. So I end up using some for parts - which I use to fix others.

Buying them in bulk and in "unknown" condition is what let's me sell them to other members for such low prices. It's a *lot* of work on my end (hell, it's a lot of work just doing the initial testing of each unit to see what, if anything, is wrong with them!), but I don't have much of a life, so I don't mind putting time and effort into it - and I actually enjoy working on them (to a point). The biggest PITA is pulling out the Rosen in my car in order to connect them for "final" testing (that's the only way to fully test the backlighting and fans in the GM1010's). The GM1210's are a little easier to test in that I can test everything on the bench - *except* for the CANBUS module...

@trosky - LOL at "intervention"

My wife and I have had similar exchanges from time to time about my various passions.

2 Quick questions regarding these. With the new apple IOS update, my factory HU isn't compatible with my phone. Phone says that the "device is not supported"
1: does anyone know how to solve this for the factory HU?
2: Do these units have that same issue?

Thanks for the info!

Are you talking about when you try to pair your iPhone to the cars stock bluetooth? I'm an Android guy, so I can't help with that one, but I would think that it should work fine....

What year Impala do you have?

No, the older model. I have an 08 ISS that has a factory unit. I recently got an iPhone 7 and before I a AUX to AUX. So when I got the new phone I just bought a AUX to lightning. Well, now it will play for about a minute and then it will pop up on my phone that "this device is not supported". So I was curious if anyone knew how to fix this and if these units that you are selling have this issue.
