2011 Impala Tranny question/issue

Hi, I just bought a 2011 Impala with 105,000 miles. I test drove the car twice, and it wasn't until I was almost home did I notice this issue: If 1/2 throttle or more, the car pulls smooth, strong and the tranny does NOT slip at all but when it shifts about 4,000 rpms there is a bit of a "shudder" on the 1-2 shift. Also, I think when semi aggresively coming to a stop when it's in 2nd it gives the sensation like the rotors are warped, but when it goes into 1st it's totally smooth again. Not sure if this is related or not. I went from a 3rd to 2nd gear downshift and it's crisp. I'm kind of stressing about this car purchase. Just normal driving it's fine... the more agressive you are (pulling out into traffic) the more noticble that 1-2 shudder is.

I appreciate and and all comments..
Steve

Most of your issues can be corrected with maintenance.

1) Start with replacing the fluid and filter. Use a full synthetic Dexron IV product.
2) While you are there install a shift kit that replaces the 1/2 & 2/3 accumulator seals and upgrades the springs. You may have to replace the pistons and guide shafts if they are worn excessively.
3) Replace the stock oil pan with the Dorman 265-814 pan. It makes service much easier.
4) Drive it for about 100 miles and drain and replace the fluid again. Repeat one more time.
5) Replace your trans fluid every other oil change.

Garage
Similar issue

My 2011 LS with 155k has the sudden stop then take off slip then thud and sluggish go. (not a bone thugs and harmony song)
My fluid level is good. I bought a new filter to do the fluid and filter change. I understand the servos, but are the pistons easy to get to as well?

I've only had the car for a few months but I have tried the battery disconnect and re-learn. When I first bought it there was no slip or sluggishness that I noticed. Thank God for forum's like this one as my last vehicle Pontiac G6 Needed several things (including the engine) replaced. Was a good car till Mrs. DEER.

If they're like my 2003, the pistons are easy as well although at 280K miles, mine still looked ok and fit did not seem to improve at all with new ones. Plus, I think the only place I could find them was at the dealer for $20 ea. A few thousand miles later, I still went ahead and replaced all the solenoids, harness and torque converter - after that sprang a bad leak. Still going at 295K. By the way, using ACDelco full syn Dexron VI and Lubegard.

Just the facts maam
