Drop Spindles with disc brakes.

Im looking into getting some drop spindles and they all say must convert to disc brakes. Mine has factory power discs in front will any of these spindles work? I am assuming they will but i just thought i would ask to be safe before i spend that kind of money.

Thanks.

Can you post the part numbers of the spindles and kit?

From their website:
https://www.autocityclassic.com/inde...h_str=spindles

I found this brake kit, p/n 6568CHEVBRK :
https://www.autocityclassic.com/1965...llsize-brakes/

I think it's designed to fit on the stock (drum) spindles.

The drop spindles are on page 75 of the McGaughy catalog, part number 6570 :
http://nebula.wsimg.com/6df69acf0a62...&alloworigin=1

The note in the table on page 75 says you "must use [McGaughy] #63205 Disc Brake Kit" with their 2" drop spindles.

Could this be part of the problem? Perhaps the McGaughy #63205 rotors and calipers fit on the spindles differently than the AutoCityClassic 6568CHEVBRK rotors/calipers?

Looking at the info on the two websites, the different callout for the rotors/calipers is the thing that stuck out to me. You got the McGaughy spindles from AutoCityClassics? If they shipped them, they should know what parts go with the spindles. But I suggest you call and discuss this with them (and maybe McGaughy as well) to confirm which brake/rotor kit is needed, or if the two kits are equivalent, #63205 ?= 6568CHEVBRK .

HTH.
Doug

i have called auto city classic and they told me they have sold lots of these kits and no one has complained, but if you go to auto city classics on line you can not find a kit for 2"dropped spindles AND POWER DISC FRONT BRAKES, BUT IF YO GO TO EBAY AND LOOK UP DROPPED SPINDLES POWER DISC CONVERSION YOU WILL FIND THE KIT I BOUGHT FOR A 67 IMPALA THEY HAVE A KIT THERE WHICH IS WHAT I PURCHASED BUT WHEN I INSTALLED THEM WITH THE ENGINE AND BODY OFF THE FRAME THEY SAID THEY WOULD NEVER LINE UP TILL I HAD WEIGHT ON THE FRAME,,BUT I ALSO HAVE THE FRONT SPRINGS OUT WHERE I CAN RAISE OR LOWER THE UPPER AND LOWER A-ARMS TO WHEREVER I WANT AND NO MATTER WHAT HEIGHT I BRING THEM TO THE NEW 2" DROPPED SPINDLES HIT THE LOWER A- ARM STOPPING IT FROM HAVING THE TURNING RADIUS, I HAVE CONTACTED THEM MANY TIMES TILL I HAD TO REFUTE THE CHARGE ON MY CARD BUT THEY SAY THEY CAN'T TAKE THEM BACK BECAUSE I INSTALLED THEM AND I TOLD THEM HOW ELSE AM I SUPPOSE TO KNOW IF THEY FIT UNLESS I TRY THEM ON THE CAR I HAVE BEEN HAVING A BIG PROBLEM WITH THEM,,,AND WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ABOUT THEM NOT FITTING Because there is no weight on the car remember there are no springs in it either,so i CAN LIFT A ARMS TO ANY HEIGHT AGAIN THANK YOU FOR TRYING TO HELP ME OUT WITH THIS PROBLEM EDDIE

If they sold the spindles and brakes to you with the understand that they would work together and fit your car, then they should take them back.

That said, while there are many things I like about getting car stuff off ebay, if you are not dealing with an authorized outlet, getting manufacturer support after the sale can be difficult.

The good part is, if your credit card is not making you pay, it looks like you should get a do-over and be able to purchase new parts from a different channel.

HTH.

when i disputed it the first time about 2 months ago credit card came back with saying they did not have enough evidence to grant me my refund so i re refuted it and they told me to get a letter from one of the mechanics that checked it out so he wrote a letter from his shop and sent it to the credit card company and now i am still waiting for an answer,,i told the credit company i don't have a problem with buying the kit and paying them for it but if does not fit it is no good to me, besides screwing up months of my timing to finish the car. do you know of any complete kits that i could get some where else to match the set similar to what i purchased from auto city classics, and did you go on ebay and look up the kit i purchased thanks again Eddie

Hi, Eddie,

All I know are the parts I saw in the McGaughy catalog . The drop spindle, p/n 6570 on page 75, calls out brake kit p/n 63205 on page 73, where it states the kit is for drop spindles.

If those are indeed the spindles you have, I'd say go get the McGaughy brake kit 63205.

Any chance you can post a pic of what the spindles look like on the car?

HTH.

Doug
