Traction Control / Stabilitrak issues

2012 Impala LT. So for a while now, at one particular highway off-ramp that is pretty sharp, I would occasionally get a Traction Control or Stabilitrak issue - not sure which one because the only indicator I get is the traction control light blinking, which, from my understanding, could indicate either issue... I definitely feel the ABS system kicking in and it's hard to get the car to accelerate. The issue eventually stops on it's own as I slow to a stop at then end of the off-ramp.

Well, I had it happen again yesterday and then also at another (not-so-sharp) bend a few minutes later - both were while turning right.

So, I suspect that I'm running into the same ABS wheel speed sensor wiring issue that everyone else runs into (even though I don't get any messages on the DIC when it happens - just the blinking traction control icon)? So I figured that I'd just go ahead and replace the ABS speed sensor wiring before it gets any worse. I just want to make sure that I'm getting the right part - I'm thinking that I need this:

ACDELCO 10340314 - ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Connector (More Information for ACDELCO 10340314

Can anyone confirm or deny that this is the part I need? I'm assuming that since it's only ever happened when turning right, that I need it for the LEFT wheel? Or should I just replace both to be 100% sure?

I'm assuming that these are relatively easy to replace? Just plug in on one side and manually connect the wires on the other side?

I do have an extended warranty that would cover this, but I have a $100 deductible anyway and would rather not have to fight to get the problem to occur, make multiple appointments, etc, etc..

Thank you!

It's funny, I was just recently commenting on how lucky I was that I haven' t run into this issue yet! :) Should have kept my mouth shut!!

Ok, thanks. Typically, I try to stay with AC-Delco for replacement parts, but I found aftermarket versions of these on Ebay for about $11 each - and they have the same 1 year warranty as the AC-Delco wires. Being that it's just a wire with a connector on the end, I think I'm going to go with the aftermarket parts for this. $22 vs. $90 is a big difference! :)

^+1. I noticed they had 2-3 cheaper brands on Rockauto, but iirc, they were ~$20+/harness and the AC-Delco was ~$40+. If the AC-Delco replacement harness is the same quality/length as oem, I don't blame you for not being brand loyal, lol. They sure as hell haven't proven to be real stellar. Fingers crossed you don't have a sensor/hub/brg. assy. issue.

Actually, I *just* finally replaced it today... More details here:

Too soon to say for sure if it fixed it or not though - since the problem was intermittent, it will be a week or so before I know for sure (at least).

However, when testing the resistance of the wiring, I found that if I messed with the wire in one spot, the multimeter went crazy, so I have a feeling the problem will be fixed. Read post linked to above for more details and a few pics.

Honestly, I completely forgot about this thread, so I'm glad you called me out on it! :) While I posted the info elsewhere, it makes a lot more sense to post it here!

I'll definitely update the thread when I know for sure whether or not it fixed the issue.

Just went on a 500+ mile trip and didn't have any issues whatsoever, so I'm feeling pretty confident that the issue is fixed. However, I've only ever had the issue happen in 2 spots near my house, so I still need to "test" it on those 2 spots though. Once I've tested those 2 spots a few times, I'll know for sure. :)

Yeah, my issue has definitely been solved. It's ridiculous that this issues occurs so often and with such low milage. It really can be dangerous in certain cases too - this definitely should have been a recall (and I'm not way to say everything should be a recall!).

Cheap and easy fix though...
