Question Forum History

So I'm sitting at work tired of watching windows update itself and started to thinking about how long the forums have been around?

are any of the original founders/original members still active on this site? Just curious, i've been here a year and have seen many with joined dates back to 2009.

For all 4 forums i'm a member of currently this is the most enjoyable one as the members aren't constantly chastising each other for doing something they don't agree with. Also everyone seems a bit more laid back and just here for knowledge and fun.

Post up your join date to see who's been around the longest!

I've noticed a sort of renaissance in web forums lately. My take is that the folks who are still frequenting forums, including here, like the format (versus fb, for example), and the level of moderation (because it's rarely needed ).

For me, I've been doing forums since ~2000, beginning with usenet (using a mail reader rather than a web browser). Stray dogs would often wander in and muck things up, even after web forums began to take over. Eventually the problem posters leave, but sometimes so have many other posters resulting in very little traffic.

Anyway, sorry to get windy, but one thought I had, just the other day, was that it seems like most of the traffic here is thoughtful and polite. That is, folks make the effort to compose comprehensible messages , and other folks reply in kind. And I appreciate that very much. It's nice when all of us behave like adults

Doug

Exactly Doug, i've been in several forums since the late 90's/early 2000's as well (mostly for pc gaming at that time) and decided to get involved in this one last year after a long hiatus and it definitely made me remember the good times and useful information that can be found in a format such as this. Also adults acting like their age not their shoe size is always a bonus! lol

I have been here since early 2010....was Impala-less for a few years but still remained active. Just a good formum in my opinion. Not a lot of immaturity is tolerated.

Joined this one in 2012 as a need to see more on a topic than a "visitor" can see. Found the people here acted in a civilized manner and the one or two that were not got dealt with quickly.
That made me stay.
Only other forum I'm on is a Nissan Diesel forum. Been there since 06 or 07 I think. Pretty limited membership there as you can imagine but some real useful info there as well.
There have been many come and go here in the short time I've been here. Some of the "main players" that were very active when I first joined have just faded away.

Except for Bonsey.

He's just disolving from age and erosion.

Some things are better left unsaid, which I generally realize right after I have said them.

Sept 2014. But followed the forum for info & knowledge for a while before I joined.
IOTM was cool but it seems it's not really active anymore.

I've been here since November 2016. One of the reasons I joined was to chronicle the stuff I'm doing to my car, plus it forces me to take pics, which obviously helps documenting things. There really is a great group here that personally I don't think you'll find on any other forum. Plus it is still very active, compared to other forums like NAIOA, that had great info and mods but sorta faded out. We got a good thing going here, so let's keep it going

Member here since 2012, was on it prior to that just reading. I like this forum because of the people I have dealt with and the search button seems to work well.

Yup the family has a 1974. Its up in michigan. I made this username back in high school and use it for pretty much everything haha.

Its just a lowly 318 two barrel with a 2.74 open rear end. Good for cruising at 20 something to the gallon lol.

@ 20 something per gallon. I just picked up a 2015 Challenger. I wish I could drive a 70's just to have that experience. I have rode in a 60's Impala...it was amazing as it was a restored engine and tranny. The only problem I had was when the owner ended up cutting up the car and adding hydraulics and little spoke rims. I was so sad. lol

Actually a 2015 or newer scat pack is my next car for the fun car. Want to get one in b5 blue to be the same color as the 74 but that color is a little difficult to find as they keep stopping production on it according to the build a dodge website. Ill keep the impala as the everyday and winter car.

The ride on the 74 is a little rough with michigan roads lol. Shes pretty original and needs some different shocks (currently has air shocks which just suck!). 176k plus miles on it from what i can remember the last time i looked.
